With their fourth full-length album to be released in as many years, The Men proudly present the sweeping New Moon, the most intensely personal and immersive installment yet.
Never content to draw on the same methods twice, nor to recline under the heel of expectation, The Men quit the city in early 2012 to head for Big Indian, NY - transforming a remote Catskills locale into a full-fledged stray dog studio home. Entering with only the most skeletal sketches, the house was selected as an incubator for its technical limitations.
Familiar faces remain, the core of guitarists Nick Chiericozzi and Mark Perro, with drummer Rich Samis all returning from last year’s much-acclaimed Open Your Heart. However, inroads have since been made to previously unreachable trails, as close friend and producer Ben Greenberg (Pygmy Shrews, Hubble, Zs) officially joins the ranks as bassist on paper, and full-bore compositional partner in practice. In tandem, wayward brother Kevin Faulkner occupies his most substantial sphere to date, dreaming aloud on lap steel guitar.
New Moon is simultaneously an expansion of palette and a contraction of focus, hedged with as much leaden dirge and ecstatic abandon, as it is genuine saccharine steel-string levity and an ever-tightening, no apologies pop concision. Summarily, it is a love letter devoted in bowed humility to the grand continuum, exposing the hoax of the great divide.

"In Between The Opposite", the fourth one of a discography qualitatively in continuing ascent as manifestation of a creative talent that knows no limits.
The electropopish atmospheres built by the Norwegian Spektralized speaks with a direct language but at the same time sophisticated and danceable: their newest chapter reveals the band further matured and and in possession of an admirable ingenious so full of strategies that know how to conquer the listeners offering them artificial sounds created by irresistible, pulsing bpm's, synths vortex and the powerful voice of Richard that sustains the orchestrations.
Into the album nothing is casual: everything is generated by passion and science, by calculation and sentiment, elements that give to "In Between The Opposite" a fascinating aura that deserves to be discovered track after track, for a release that will drag you into an excursion in a technologic universe dedicated to the newest and old electro-generations.

Almost a year and a half after their latest album 'No More Alive than you Deserve' and live shows across Europe and South America, Severe Illusion are about to follow up on that previous success. First off is the new EP 'Psychosurgery', out now through MedCon / Complete Control Productions. The EP is released as a limited edition, hand numbered CD in beautiful digipack, but also on cassette as well as an unlimited for free version to download. There will be four perfectly new tracks and one live recording from the band's 2007 show in Arkhangelsk, Russia.
The EP is to be followed by the album 'The Legacy of António Caetano de Abreu Freire Egas Moniz' later in 2013. This, the fifth Severe Illusion album so far, deals with the history of psychosurgery and it's development into even more sinister forms of mind control. Musically the band has not evolved much, rather staying true to a formula of old school EBM, lots and lots of distortion, home made percussion and the same attitude problems that have defined the band since day one.
Also, a small number of live shows are about to take place across Europe beginning with the legendary club Slimelight in London, UK on March 9 with more shows TBA.
Also in March, the new compilation 'Inside the Volcano vol.1' is to be released. This rather impressive 2CD compilation includes preciously unreleased music from Portion Control, Ike Yard, Arzt+Pfusch, The Pain Machinery and a number of others. Also included on the compilation is the exclusive Severe Illusion track 'Hymn to the Airport Paranoids'.
In related news, the Severe Illusion side project Instans has been reanimated. Work on a new album is well under way, aiming for release on Advoxya Records in spring 2013.
After a limited 6 track demo cassette sold-out in a few hours only, the London based duo A Terrible Splendour announces its debut album Poseurs. Ask for your promo copies or download link. The band is available for interviews, don't be shy!
A Terrible Splendour are a London-based duo who weave tales of blackmail and despair, of cruelty and of heartbreak. Their sound is a darkly luxurious synthesized pop. They make a drama out of a crisis.
The band’s limited edition cassette EP, released on Desire in autumn 2012, sold out fast and left audiences wanting more. Their wish is now granted with the release of the band’s debut album Poseurs, released on desire.
Available in LP, CD and digital format, it features 11 tracks ranging in style from dissolute disco to sombre cabaret musings. Resolutely modern synth sounds, in turn lush and vicious, combine with lyrics addressing the eternal themes of rebellion, shame and the vagaries of outrageous fortune.
It was recorded by the band with James Aparicio (credits include Spiritualized, These New Puritans, Grinderman) and JJD (Soft Riot, Savage Furs, Radio Berlin).
Tracks from this album have previously featured on several compilations, such as 290.625 by Flexiwave (first run sold out) and the Ninthwave electro-pop sampler (#1 on the Amazon USA free download chart). They are currently involved in releasing ‘And You’ll Find Them In the Basement’, a compilation documenting the modern London synth scene.
Their live shows are a theatre of love and death, with performances drawing on Weimar-era cabaret. The recent self-made video for their track Victimless Crime displays an aesthetic that references German Impressionist cinema and gothic storytelling.
Live highlights include a triumphant performance at the Exit Festival in Serbia and well-received shows on the London circuit (Camden Barfly, The Lexington, Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, The Macbeth) and the UK Synth/Wave scene (Never Come Back, Bedsitland, Dancing and Laughing, Festival of Sins).
‘One of the most exciting live acts of the moment’ (Resonance FM)
‘A world of intrigue and disillusionment’ (Electro and Pop)
‘Doused in glamour, dank with weirdness’ (Some of it was True)
‘The first time we heard them we felt an attraction we could not control, like an arrow, a love at first sight’ (The Scrap Mag)
You are cordially invited to spend an evening in the company of A Terrible Splendour.
