New album from Chris Connelly on its way

21st of July 2011, 11:18

Relapse Records will release the brand new solo album from prolific musician and writer Chris Connelly (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, The High Confessions).

The new album, titled "Artificial Madness", was recorded this past May at Engine studios in Chicago with producer Sanford Parker.

Joining Connelly for the recording and adding to his distinctive vocal and guitar work was Noah Leger (The Karl Hendricks Trio, The(e) Speaking Canaries, Head of Skulls) on drums, Will Lindsay (Indian, Nachtmystium, Wolves in Throne Room) on bass, and Dallas Thomas (The Swan King, Circle of Animals, Asschapel) on guitar.

The title Artificial Madness is a reference to today’s insane reliance on needless technologies that has turned humans into head-hung, shuffling zombies.

Connelly describes the release as "an adrenaline rush of paranoia, drawing on my history with bands like Ministry, Killing Joke, and The Damage Manual while retaining the melodic sense. It’s a statement against the way music has become a flaccid Eagles/Fleetwood Mac nightmare with no one fighting or asking questions anymore. It’s time for a revolution."

Artificial Madness will see a Fall 2011 release date.

Mannequin brings you Octavius

21st of July 2011, 09:16

Mannequin is always looking for every shape that electronic music could assume, so they are seriously proud to announce the release of 500 vinyl limited edition copies of Octavius new album "Laws".

Glacial, barren and difficult, OCTAVIUS’ Laws arrives in stark contrast to synth pop-derived efforts of recent fashion.

Informed specifically by Bowie’s "Low", New Order’s "Movement" and Tricky’s "Pre-Millennium Tension" , "Laws" is Octavius in a daringly raw, beats and noise and vocals only moment.

"Laws" features significant musical contributions from DJ/Producer Barbeau, who has worked with Doc Martin, Les Rhythmes Digitales, Donald Glaude and is the producer behind Hollywood sex act Dirty Sanchez’s sound.

This is what the press wrote:

"At times, it sounds like Ian Curtis fronting Merzbow, other times it’s Tricky bleeding". - WIRE

"Electronic music as envisioned by 18th-century French philosophers." – Grooves

"His work can drift like ambient Brian Eno pieces, distort with abrasive freakouts, or pummel with Nine Inch Nails beats and aggression." – All Music Guide

New album out by LPF12

20th of July 2011, 10:05

One Year after "Individual Suffering" Sascha Lemon makes his way back into the headphones of Electronica-fans with his most personal album in the LPF12-history.

And the waiting was worthwhile: The soundscapes of LPF12 are emotional, stirring and moving - more than ever before.

In ten chapters "A Sense Of Loss" tells a story of hope, loss and sadness, of anger, reconciliation and love. Personal experiences expressed with emotional music, that easily combines heart and mind. Smooth piano-sounds are joined with captivating Dark Ambient-sounds, forceful drum-patterns provide a background for ingenious synth-sequences.

Collaborations with the Ionium Records label-colleague mind.area, with the greek project MikTek and the american singer Karra Russell masterly round this thrilling album off.

M83 releases double album on 17th October

19th of July 2011, 17:37

M83 announces details today for what has become one of this autumn’s most anticipated dance-releases.

M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) will release his new double album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming on October 17th, 2011.

Produced by Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, NIN, The Mars Volta, Goldfrapp) and including contributions from Brad Laner (from 90’s band Medicine) on guitar, Saturdays=Youth vocalist Morgan Kibby, and guest vocalist Zola Jesus, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming is a double-album journey.

About awakening, craving, and conquering, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming pushes into new vocal territory for M83.

Here we see Gonzalez test out different ways of singing, ranging from a spectral breathy whisper to a howling scream. “I think it is a reflection of my 30 years of being a human being. It’s a compilation of all my previous music together. It’s a retrospective of myself”, says Gonzalez.

M83 fans have the opportunity to hear and download the first single, “Midnight City”, starting today. The humid, adrenaline-driven dreamlike track is unlike anything we have heard from M83 in the past. “Midnight City” adeptly sweeps you through abandoned concrete streets swimming in broken neon light. To download the track visit M83’s official website or stop by his Soundcloudpage  page to stream it.
