BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB announce 'Live In Paris' album & DVD,

10th of March 2015, 17:28

San Francisco rock legends Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are pleased to announce the release of ‘Black Rebel Motorcycle Club- Live In Paris’ on May 4th through Abstract Dragon.

The double album and accompanying DVD was recorded live at Theatre Trianon in Paris on February 24, 2014, during the band’s sold-out tour of Europe. In addition to the full concert, the DVD also includes the documentary film 33.3% by Yana Amur, which shows fans an intimate side of the band never seen before. A full track list can be found below.

“It was a little over a year ago while sitting in the back of a passenger van outside Tokyo, all of us covered in sweat and half-cocked grins trying to catch our breath after having just walked off stage, I remember someone uttering the idea that we might actually really want to think about filming one of these shows before it's all over,” reflects vocalist and bassist Robert Levon Been. “I guess my first reaction was that we could all use a very long hot shower much more than another live DVD at that exact moment. My second was that it might be a shame if we reached the end of that tour without capturing any of the beauty and even brutality of it. But a lot of the music we create is not only where we exist, but also where we escape to.’

‘It’s difficult though with film to avoid making a band into just another 'reality show' that’s crafted into a product on a shelf, and at the same time just painting a plain picture of a live concert would almost be like a dream without very much color or feeling,” continues Robert. “In the end we have released two separate films to show both sides of the same coin….'Live In Paris' is the dream. And '33.3% Documentary' is the morning after.”

The concert film was directed by Bartleberry Logan and won the 2014 UK Music Video Award for “Best Live Concert Film.” Live In Paris will be available as a 3 Disc set (2 CDs + 1 DVD) or 3 Vinyl collection+ 1 DVD. Fans who pre-order either format will have the opportunity to augment their purchase by adding a poster and/or T-shirt, both exclusive to the pre-order. Fans can begin placing their pre-order immediately at http://blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com where they can also preview some clips from the concert and documentary. As a bonus for those who pre-order, fans will be able to immediately download 6 digital tracks from the album.

NEWS Bob Wayne hit the hits

Bob Wayne hit the hits

10th of March 2015, 17:27

After six albums of all original music by Outlaw Country singer BOB WAYNE, he now gives us his take on some of the world’s biggest hits. There are no boundaries on “Hits The Hits”. BOB WAYNE covers songs all the way from Rihanna to Led Zeppelin and Adele to The Offspring, putting his Country roots spin on them while not leaving out the classic BOB WAYNE edge.

“When I had the idea to record a cover album my first thoughts were Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, so my biggest influences in this kind of music. However, in the end, you cannot top Johnny Cash. Until now I had never really played any cover versions, not even live, simply because you cannot hit the mark of Johnny Cash. Whenever I play his songs it is never as good as the original.” Still, Cash’s highly successful “American Recordings” planted the seed of doing an album with cover versions in BOB WAYNE. “On those he covered Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave or Tom petty just as acoustic versions. ‘Hits The Hits’ is my attempt to do covers myself, but with a full band, so including everything from fiddle to banjos… I did it my style. The challenge was pretty exciting.”

If you are already a BOB WAYNE believer, this album will be a nice change of pace, if you are new to the BOB WAYNE train - hang on for the ride!

BOB WAYNE “Hits The Hits“ track listing:

1. Rock And Roll (originally by Led Zeppelin)

2. Skyfall (originally by Adele)

3. Sweet Child O’ Mine (originally by Guns N’ Roses)

4. Sympathy For The Devil (originally by The Rolling Stones)

10. Disturbia (originally by Rihanna)

11. The Kids Aren't Alright (originally by The Offspring)

13. Crazy Train (originally by Ozzy Osbourne)

“Hits The Hits” will be out in Europe on May 4th, 2015.

Mick Jones of The Clash Produces Sugarmen's Debut Single 'Dirt'

10th of March 2015, 13:12

Sugarmen are a powerful combination of infectious melodies and angst delivered with a sonic buzz saw. Already confirmed as support to Sleaford Mods, Paul Weller, Blur and The Who, as well as making their debut at this years Dot To Dot Festival, they continue to expand their ever increasing fanbase and are fast becoming a band whose live set is known for its high octane delivery, drenched in energy and riffs.

The band was formed in Liverpool by Luke Fenlon and Chay Heney who attracted the attention of Drummer Sam McVann and Bassist, Tom Sheilds. Their love of music is reflected in their record collections. From The Clash to Orange Juice. From Hooton Tennis Club to Peace. From Parquet Courts to Alvvays. From The Velvet Underground to Wild Beasts. A good band always has a good record collection.

Mick Jones (The Clash / BAD) liked the demos so much he produced ten tracks for the band and Paul Weller donated his studio.

Sugarmen's debut single 'Dirt' will be released 13th April on Poor Old Soul Records and is produced by Mick Jones.

NEWS New album from Torul out

New album from Torul out

09th of March 2015, 19:24

Torul have established themselves as one of the rare unpredictable synthpop bands on the scene who are always up for something new, seemingly never satisfied with just sticking with one formula or trying to do what others do. Torulsson, the leader and producer of the band, has had influences from many music genres and other events in life and thus it's impossible for him not to be moving on to the next chapters of the project with curiosity, playfulness and also continuous exploration of the Torul sound. But that's not all there is to Torul – the singer and guitarist of the band, Jan and Borut, are also an integral part of the band as it is – they've always been joining forces when it comes to video production and all possible aspects of organization within the band. Also, they seem to be having some creative fun putting Jan's powerful voice in different contexts and also do guitar studies, which bring a broad variety of possibilities in their song construction. And here comes their fourth album, titled The Measure. Although it's only been 5 years since the release of their first full album, recorded with a different singer, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new album. The first single, titled 'All' has been high on charts and had shaken some people with an almost disturbing and intenselly emotional video, a concept by photographer Primoz Lukezic.

The Measure also includes astonishing artwork by Petra Prezelj, a unique and successful illustrator from Slovenia, who seemed to be the best choice for a graphic translation of Torul's new dream world, not only putting in some of her own elements, but also developing a deep, mysterious art piece, which will surely be enjoyed for a long time to come. Torul's albums are always meant to be a story, a zeitgeist of their work and relation and their current state – and The Measure is no exception. We can enjoy a journey into their intimate world, expressed with sounds, voice and lyrics and design. The album opens with 'Lonely Night', setting the mood of the album, with fast-walking pace and gloomy, but pleasant deep voice and almost a "western-movie" guitar theme. With 'The Balance', which follows with a very impressive impact and melancholic playfulness, there is no doubt Torul mean business. Probably in connection with the album title, Torul wonder "What's the level of your happiness, what's the balance, what's the measure?" and here we come to a powerful fusion of an uncompromised power of the richest sound and lots of emotional energy.

Next comes 'Higher', a great sounding melancholic tune with some magical hypnotic power, although this may not be a typical pop-chart hit single. 'Difficult to Kill' may be one of those classical housey dance tracks with attitude on vocals. Still it seems to be one of the lighter tracks and also comes at the right time, followed by the infamous 'All'. Next comes a hidden jewel, 'Hearts', a more "live-feel" track, although partially electronic, with an apocalyptic theme, deep bass, but also the very well known Torul's emotional impact. Not to try to reveal everything here, this album is certainly a special piece, probably the most mature Torul album to date, and in the times where singles prevail, really feels like an album. It's quite clear that a lot of thought was put into the concept of this album and thus the result is a very pleasant listening experience.
