Goth metal act Lovelorn Dolls release video for latest single 'After Dark'
Out now is "After Dark" the newest video for the Belgian goth metal act Lovelorn Dolls. "After Dark" is also the name of the band's latest single (released as an 8-track EP) and is taken from the album "The House of Wonders" which was released earlier this year in March 2013 on the Belgina label Alfa Matrix.
The new video was animated and directed by Emily Weeks (a well-established name in today's alternative music video scene by now) who created a beautiful microcosmos for Lovelorn Dolls' music. The concept and story was arranged by Lovelorn Dolls' Kristell Lowagie and graphical artist Emily Weeks while the track was mastered by Victor Love from Dope Stars Inc.

New York's Xeno & Oaklander have been something like a best kept secret within the five boroughs. With their brand of dark wave, synth based electronic music, Xeno & Oaklander have released two LPs on the beloved Wierd Records imprint -- most recently with 2011's Sets & Lights. Now making the jump to Ghostly International, "Par Avion" is a first taste of new material to come from Xeno & Oaklander in front of a new full-length album scheduled for 2014.
The "Par Avion" title alludes to postcards sent by airmail from exotic places - shimmering moments from the present, romantic messages from the past, love mementos for the future.
Recorded live in the all-analogue Xeno & Oaklander studio in Brooklyn New York, Sean McBride’s signature sequenced staccato synth basslines are set against warm arpeggios and a de rigueur snappy and cold snare drum. Liz Wendelbo’s ghostly string synth arrangements and unusual chord progressions abound with analogue delay note bends. Distant strings interweave with winds of noise to produce a perfect balance between Sean’s sequenced stark compositions and Liz’s ethereal and whispery vocal presence.
In conjunction with the release of "Par Avion" on November 12, 2013 Liz Wendelbo, one half of Xeno & Oaklander, has collaborated with NYC based fashion designer Tess Giberson for a remixed take on “ready-mades” and exclusive merchandise -- out on November 13.
The concept behind the collaboration is adn exploration of senses and journey to the series of 'sensual' objects created. Wendelbo explains, “Sound makes me think of a scent, which makes me think of an image, which makes me think of a certain kind of light".
The Tess Giberson store located on Crosby Street in Manhattan will be selling limited edition t-shirts, sweatshirts and bags that feature Xeno artwork. In addition to custom products by Wendelbo, including a perfume, a scented bookmark, original collages, booklet and video presentation. The space will be curated with the merchandise that will be placed around the space, like 'objective poems' to create a lucid atmosphere for the audience.
