NEWS The Morning Hour to release new EP and video

The Morning Hour to release new EP and video

23rd of June 2014, 17:56

Dutch band “The Morning Hour” has joined White Russian Records for the release of their upcoming 5 track EP “A Stitch In Time”. The EP will be released July 11th on CD and digital format by White Russian Records and is the follow up to the bands 2013 debut two track single “Lectures / Guillotine Guilty”.

A self shot video for the track “Hopes And Dreams” is out now (June 23rd) and clearly shows the bands ability to write beautiful melodic songs, and is a perfect teaser of what’s to come on “A Stitch In Time”.

“Alternating, dreamy and intense”. are the words used by Dutch UPMagazine after seeing The Morning Hour perform live, and are spot on. The four piece alternative band from Rijswijk, a small city near The Hague in The Netherlands, started out in 2013 with a strong drive to play honest heartfelt music without forgetting their punkrock roots.

The band toured on their well received first single for half a year, before deciding to head back to the drawing board and paint a bigger picture. That picture -A Stitch In Time- was painted with the help of Robin van Loenen -front man of Destine, producer of the last album by -now label buddies- The 101’s- and mastered by Jasper van den Broek, known for his recording and mastering jobs for The Lowest Standard, Call It Off and Wasted Bullet.

When asked about his influences when writing music, singer/guitarist Camille simply states “For me the biggest influence would be nature. Sounds weird but I get more inspired by a sunrise on a big open field with some pretty trees than any person or song. We all have a strong affinity with and grew up on punkrock music and many of it’s subgenres.”

A Stitch In Time is that: five songs that contain the beauty of a quiet sunrise in a wide open field filled with beautiful flowers and trees, but at the same time display a daring dark and energetic attitude.

NEWS Grassroots the music-driven charity project for Ukraine

Grassroots the music-driven charity project for Ukraine

23rd of June 2014, 17:54

Grassroots’ is by no means a political statement. It is true that this project has emerged from and was widely influenced by recent political and social events in Ukraine that resulted in many people being wounded and killed. However, its only aim is to provide support and help to families affected by those events – hence ‘music-driven charity project’ would be the most suitable description for it.

The compilation comprises of two CDs: representing Ukrainian artists and international guests who have performed in Ukraine over the course of their careers, respectively. Both parts are arranged specifically to create a proper musical flow that ranges from intro-like ambient interludes to more of a dancefloor friendly sounds and back to downtempo/experimental beginnings. It goes without saying that the content of the compilation is rather diverse, since each CD offers music from artists representing different scenes and backgrounds.

The first CD kicks off with ambient tinged ‘Alta’ by Klockworks affiliated artist Etapp Kyle and then goes on in a similar vein through Woo York’s abstract rhythms and Subforms’ dub techno chords. The infamous Vakula provides a bridge between the first part of the CD and its four-to-the-floor course by his sample-fuelled ‘Little Improvisation’. The mission is picked up by SE62 and his MLIU-flavored house tune and Stanislav Tolkachev’s signature trippy techno. Sunchase’s bass explorations and Kotra’s avant-garde experiments then give a proper ending to the Ukrainian part of the project.

Semantica’s head honcho Svreca starts the second CD with arguably his most experimental work to date. UK techno hero Perc goes even beyond that sampling the recording of Ukrainian anthem from Maidan and incorporating it into his epic track called ‘Eternal’. Dustin Zahn of Enemy Records and Drumcode then gives back dancefloor feel to the project and hands it over to Polish master Jacek Sienkiewicz and former Panorama Bar resident Murat Tepeli who do their best in shaking things up. The CD continues with ASC’s industrial-influenced ‘Falling apart’ that represents the project’s edgiest peak and ends up with a beautifully crafted ambient piece by Benny Rodrigues’s new project Tears From Malmok.

All profits from the ‘Grassroots’ project will be transferred to

Maidan Family fund and re-distributed between short-term support initiatives targeted at families of Maidan victims, medical treatment and rehabilitation of physically challenged individuals, and long-term aid for under-aged children who lost their parents in the events otherwise known as Maidan 2013/2014.

Malakim best fictional short movie in Shanghai

22nd of June 2014, 18:04

FilmFestGent informs us that Malakim by Frederike Migom won the price for best fictional short movie during the 17th edition from the Shanghai International Film Festival (14 - 22 June). The jury was clear about young actor Vincent Collin. "The film is mysterious, it’s soft but a hopeful ending”.

The Shanghai International Film Festival, abbreviated SIFF, is one of the largest film festivals in East Asia. Along with Tokyo International Film Festival, the SIFF is one of the biggest film festivals in Asia. The first festival was held from October 7 to 14, 1993, and was held until 2001. In 2003 there was no festival due to the SARS outbreak. Since its beginning in 1993, Shanghai International Film Festival has grown to become an A-category international film festival.

Director: Frederike Migom
Writer: Frederike Migom
Stars: Poppe Boonstra, Vincent Collin, Ina Geerts

Synopsis:

Tom, a lonely 11 year old, bumps into a living statue on the street. Despite Tom's multiple efforts to make the statue move, the angel remains still. Tom, angry and desperate for attention, challenges him.

NEWS New concertalbum by Lacrimosa

New concertalbum by Lacrimosa

Tilo Wolff has a message!

On 18 July 2014, the new double live album from LACRIMOSA comes out!

In contrast to our last live album “Lichtjahre”, which was released seven years ago and was recorded in twelve different countries, it was the goal this time to capture the atmosphere of a single, full-length concert during our world tour 2012/2013. So we recorded our concert at the Auditorio BlackBerry in Mexico City on 13 April 2013, and the result is to experience from 18 July on a double-CD whose title is revealed in the content: "LACRIMOSA - Live in Mexico City"!

Sincerely!

Tilo Wolff

Old album by Raison d'etre back on vinyl

Re-release of the 2000 album on Cold Meat Industry, limited edition of strictly 400 copies! The ambience of grim desolation! With «The Empty Hollow Unfolds» the ubiquitous Peter Andersson continued his exploration of internal desolation, be it of a spiritual base or purely of self.

«The Empty Hollow» in question seems to be the soul; a soul that has Bleak is an understatement, as the vast scope of emotions presented here is a sonic lament that lashes the soul. «The Empty Hollow Unfolds» is a grim travelogue from the land where the sun never rises; grievous keyboard passages overlaid by factory noises and the trademark chanting monks turns this into some of the most unsettling listening since the days of Lustmord's «Paradise Disowned».

The Empty Hollow Unfolds was voted as the single best release in the history of Cold Meat Industry, making it an important milestone and point of reference. This expanded edition adds two previously unreleased tracks to the album!
