Unreleased Skinny Puppy-track on new Dead When I Found Her

03rd of November 2012, 13:46

SKINNY PUPPY wrote and played "Kill To Cure" live a lot in the 80s, and although it appeared on some bootlegs and on a cassette compilation (not sure if legit) for Provoke Magazine in 1988, the track never made it to any Puppy albums.

Enter 2012: Portland's DEAD WHEN I FOUND HER, who cite Skinny Puppy as a great influence, cover the track on their new release RAG DOLL BLUES. The track appears on disc 2 of the limited edition of Rag Doll Blues and on the digital-only iTunes release Stitches & Cover Ups.

The album was released on October 9th and cracked the iTunes top 200 electronic chart in the US. The 2CD limited edition, initially limited to 100 copies and recently reprinted by Artoffact Records

New Pankow on Out Of Line

03rd of November 2012, 13:43

Pankow are back! On their new EP (which was conceived with the help of some friends, like, for instance, Plastic Noise Experience), the mad Italian EBM-/Electro-pioneers yet again sound unapologetically fresh, totally unforeseeable and absolutely unique. From Old-School-EBM via brazenly melodic yet heavily pressurized Electro-tracks right up to Industrial-infused epic stompers – anything goes. Ground-breaking… as always. Limited to 666 hand numbered copies in lavish Digipak.

It’s been quite a while since we last heard from one of the most ingenious bands from the realm of alternative electronic entertainment. Sporting a pragmatic mix of big beats, the unbridled urge to experiment, purposeful provocation and a big hunk of pure gaga, the Italian Electro-/EBM-pioneers Pankow have always held an exceptional position in the scene. Club compatible… yes. Mad and strange… you bet! Showing the finger and sticking out their tongue at everything that moves while simultaneously lunging out with a massive, electronic butt kick …

Pankow have not lost a single bit of their uniqueness on “Hogre”, although it has been some 25 years since their first release came out. Be it on their own or at the hands of resourceful remixers (among them Plastic Noise Experience), the Italians remain anything but predictable. An epic 10-minute-stomper (Don’t Follow) that sets out to prove that noisy Industrial-beats can be a good partner for a catchy, anthemic tune, a thudding ode to alcohol abuse on the backbeat of a glorious Old-School-EBM-tune (Das Wodkachaos), dark onslaughts of fat Electronica, minimalistic Noise-Pop-songs, Electroclash – anything goes, as long as it’s hitting hard. Is this EBM? Industrial Pop? Electro Rock? Catchy cacophony? Old school? New school? Any school? Frankly, my dear… we don’t give a fuck! Ground-breaking… as always. “Hogre” is limited to 666 hand numbered copies and comes in a lavish Digipak!

Superb House Of Love re-issue

02nd of November 2012, 21:06

THE HOUSE OF LOVE were one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands to grace Creation Records back in the late 1980s.

Their eponymous debut album was cited as one of the best albums of 1988 by music magazines and Indie fans alike. It has been out-of-print on CD for some time now.

This deluxe edition of THE HOUSE OF LOVE offers the band’s complete Creation recordings from 1987-1988, together with a raft of previously unissued bonus material.

The package boasts all their Creation Records singles, from the original version of ‘Shine On’, ‘Real Animal’ and the US favourite ‘Christine’ (which reached #8 in the Modern Rock chart there) to their final single for the label, ‘Destroy The Heart’.

Disc 3 is devoted to nineteen hitherto unheard HOUSE OF LOVE demos, including two exclusive Guy Chadwick songs ‘Hold On Me’ and ‘Modern World’, which were never released!

Also making their debut on CD is the rare 7” album freebie (two demos) and the ‘Flexidisc’ version of ‘Shine On’, together with Guy’s original demo of this song which eventually gave them a sizeable hit.

This 3-CD package is housed in a stylish Digipak with fresh sleeve-notes and rare images from the band’s photographer Suzie Gibbons.

Mono Electronic Density call it quits

30th of October 2012, 10:42

MED (M∃D), the Belgian electro band composed of Jean-Marc M. (also in Modern Cubism) and Bernard F. (also in Combat Voice) have just announced that they have reached an end. It seems that Jean-Marc M. is more and more involved in Modern Cubism (together with Jean-Luc De Meyer) and Bernard F. in Combat Voice (with Richard G), which makes it "impossible for them to continue with so many hours of work in reasonable conditions". The duo has thus decided to stop here and would like to "thank their friends and fans for your support them during these four years".

We will of course keep following Jean-Marc and Bernard in their respective projects.
