In all fairness , we hardly can believe it ourselves when we read it, but after Lush, the other 4 -AD legend , Belly, returns as well. The band that was founded by Throwing Muses guitarist Tanya Donelly will play in the middle of July a few concerts in the US and England. According to their official site, the band are also recording new songs!

De kalender van Fuzz Club ziet er in maart ronduit krankzinnig uit, want het label heeft niet minder dan 10 releases voor je klaar!

Earlier we reported the lineup of the Belgian W Festival: Peter Hook & The Light, Heaven 17, Scritti Politti , Sian Evans of Kosheen and of course Anne Clark.
Today, the organizers announced the addition of two Belgian bands.
The names are: the new wave act Portrait B and the punk legend De Brassers.
W- Festival will take place on 23rd August in Wortegem-Petegem (Belgium).
Eerder melden we al de line-up van W Festival: Peter Hook & The Light, Heaven 17, Scritti Politti, Sian Evans van Kosheen en natuurljk Anne Clark.
Vandaag maakten de organisatoren bekend dat daar ook nog eens twee Belgische bands bijkomen.
De new wave-act Portrait B uit Maasmechelen en de punklegende De Brassers zijn de namen.
W-Festival gaat door op 23 augustus in Wortegem-Petegem.
As you could read on these pages already, PJ Harvey announced her upcoming album The Hope Six Demolition Project that will be released on 15th April. Polly-Jean travelled to Afghanistan, Kosovo and Washington with filmmaker Seamus Murphy for inspiration. The single The Wheel (check out the review elsewhere on the Peek-A-Boo website) was premiered on 21st January. Lately the video for The Wheel was released as well.
“The song The Wheel has the journey to Kosovo as its centre,” Murphy stated. “The sight of a revolving fairground wheel in Fushe Kosovo/Kosovo Polje near the capital Pristina is the concrete reference point for the title. I can tell you its date – 4th of August 2011 – from the piece of footage I made as we walked up the street to our parked car near the train station.”
“Was that sight alone the inspiration for the song? Without being told the stories of people who had suffered during the war, without visiting villages abandoned through ethnic cleansing and cycles of vengeance, without experiencing the different perceptions of people who shared histories could the song have been written?”
Harvey and Murphy made a return trip to Kosovo in December 2015. “Making the film for The Wheel involved a mix of footage from the trip in 2011, rehearsals I shot of Polly in London and the most recent trip to Kosovo. The enormous refugee crisis in Europe had been in the news for months. I spent some time on the Greek and Macedonian borders , and in Serbia, before travelling to Kosovo. It was happening in and through territories associated with recent conflicts in Kosovo and the wider Balkans. The idea of cycles, wheels and repetition once again being all too apparent and necessary to make.”
Zoals je eerder op deze pagina’s al kon lezen, kondigde PJ Harvey haar nieuwe album aan. The Hope Six Demolition Project verschijnt op 15 april. Samen met filmmaker Seamus Murphy reisde Polly-Jean naar Afghanistan, Kosovo en Washington om inspiratie op te doen. The single The Wheel, waarvan je de review ook op deze site kunt lezen, kwam uit op 21 januari. Recent verscheen eveneens de video voor The Wheel.
“In de song The Wheel staat de trip naar Kosovo centraal” , vertelde Murphy. “Het zicht op een rondraaiend kermisrad in Fushe Kosovo/Kosovo Pulje nabij de hoofdstad Pristina is de concrete referentie voor de titel. Het beeldmateriaal is geschoten op 4 augustus 2011 toen we naar ons geparkeerd voertuig in de buurt van het station wandelden”
“Was enkel die waarneming de inspiratie voor het nummer? Zou deze song geschreven kunnen worden zonder de verhalen gehoord te hebben van mensen die hebben geleden tijdens de oorlog, zonder de door etnische zuivering en wraakacties verlaten dorpen te hebben bezocht?”
Harvey en Murphy keerden terug naar Kosovo in december 2015. “Om de video voor The Wheel te maken, gebruikten we beeldmateriaal van onze trip in 2011, beelden die ik heb geschoten van Polly tijdens repetities in Londen, alsook die van de meest recente trip naar Kosovo. De enorme vluchtelingencrisis in Europa was al maanden in het nieuws. Ik bracht enige tijd door aan de Griekse en Macedonische grenzen, en in Sevië, vooraleer naar Kosovo door te reizen. Het gebeurde in het gebied van de recente conflicten in Kosovo en de ruimere Balkan. Het idee van cycli, wielen en herhaling was te duidelijk en noodzakelijk om te maken.”
The expectations were high, but the Italian band Ash Code fulfilled them all. After their strong debut Oblivion, the Italian trio hits again with Posthuman which is released on Swiss Dark Nights.
