It is with great enthusiasm that Cyclic Law present their first book project, released under our new division, Cyclic Press. This first publication presents the unique work of Austrian analog photographer KRIST MORT.
Inlumaeh relates to the connection and interaction of light and darkness. Where there is illumination a shadow is always cast and therefore all shadows originate in light. It is which these singular precepts that Krist Mort tackles her photographic work. Focusing on the darker and more somber aspects of life, as well as the beautiful and fragile side of death and the unknown, her pictures showcase the cycle of death and rebirth and also the cycle of creation and destruction, perpetually moving on in its oppressive beauty. Beauty and death, light and darkness, invocations and spirits are the foundations on which she creates her evocative imagery.
The book comes with an exclusive audio CD by Russian esoterist LAMIA VOX. 3 unique ritualistic pieces were channeled to accompany Krist Mort's visions, adding a deeply mystical aural dimension to the visual work.
From 22 March to 31 August 2014, Art Ludique-Le Musée is hosting a major exhibition devoted to the art of the Marvel Super Heroes.
The Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Dr. Strange – their names resound like legends. Their costumes and their emblems are recognized the world over, and their stories occupy a fundamental place in our imaginations and in the culture of our time.
This exceptional exhibition will present a panorama of the world of Marvel, from the historic plates of the original comic books to the concept drawings and illustrations made for the very latest cinema productions.
The visit will also include videos* with commentaries by the legendary creator Stan Lee about the origin of the characters, his influences and inspirations, as well as commentaries by artists such as Joann Sfar, Zep and Olivier Coipel.
For the first time ever, the public will be invited to a spectacular retrospective to explore and admire more than 100 original Marvel art and sketches, in the publications which brought about these iconic characters.
The exhibition will feature works by the one and only Jack Kirby, who, together with the writer Joe Simon, developed Captain America, and later, with Stan Lee, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Thor, the Hulk and the X-Men.
Also on display will be the incomparable style of Steve Ditko, who with Stan Lee created Spider-Man, as well as original plates and illustrations of a number of Marvel artists, including John Romita, John Buscema, Don Heck, Tim Sale, Alex Ross, Jim Steranko, Gene Colan, Frank Miller, Neal Adams, and French artists Aleksi Briclot and Olivier Coipel.
A focus on the Marvel Studios, which produced such film franchises as Marvel’s The Avengers, Marvel’s Iron Man, Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s Captain America, will create a contemporary artistic path through more than 200 artworks created to adapt the Super Heroes to the cinema. Concept art, storyboards and even vehicle and accessory designs will show admiring visitors the fabulous preproduction paintings used to prepare films, created by Marvel artists including Adi Granov and Marvel’s Heads of Visual Development Charlie Wen and Ryan Meinerding. At this exhibition visitors will be able to see a number of preparatory works for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, released in France on March 26.
Meinerding is also the author of the painting created especially for the “Art of the Marvel Super Heroes” exhibition poster.
The “Art of the Marvel Super Heroes” exhibition is also significant in that it will show visitors real props used in film shootings, next to their concept drawings. We will be able to admire Iron Man’s actual helmet, Thor’s hammer, Iron Patriot’s armor, Captain America’s shield and a Hydra motorcycle.
The “Art of the Marvel Super Heroes” exhibition, imagined and designed by Art Ludique-Le Musée is a world first. It pays tribute to these huge artists who, just like their characters, have acquired a “super power”: the ability to draw masterpieces.

“We are part of an industry now where there are so many bands, it’s harder than ever to get noticed,” muses Tom Buxton, vocalist of Manchester alternative rock quintet A Mouth Full Of Matches; “Hence why we named the new E.P 'Smoke Signals’ - our lyrics tackle the topic of how are new bands meant to get on the map? We want to broadcast ourselves, we want to be heard.”
With that mission in mind, the aforementioned ‘Smoke Signals’ - set for a September 8 release - is a marked step in the right direction, its anthemic vocal refrains and songwriting largess sounding positively custom built for those big rooms with the big stages in them. Ahead of this, the official video for track 'Danger High' can be viewed now.
Taking their name from a line in ‘Milos’, a work by spoken word poet Anis Mojgani, A Mouth Full Of Matches - completed by guitarists Mark Holden and Jane Hebenton, bassist (and Jane’s twin sister) Helen Hebenton and drummer Steven Hall - have woven their band’s collective self of self out of Mojgani’s words:
“[Mojgani] writes ‘Run through these streets with me with a bucket full of gasoline and a mouth full of matches’,” Buxton relays.“In short he writes about how to live free, and keep that young spirit alive. Laugh in the face of danger and live life as if it were an adventure. The poem gave us our name and our message; we translated it as being about chasing your dreams and ambitions, trying to make them real. That's what we’re all about, and we are a very passionate band.”
After a triumphant, packed and sweaty sold out show at London’s XOYO last month, today cult artist Tom Vek announces an October tour, more festival dates added to the diary, and new single ‘Pushing Your Luck’ (due 25th August) – this is the second single from his third and highly anticipated album ‘Luck’.
‘Pushing Your Luck’, in true Vek style, is another immersive, hooky and infectious track with Vek’s signature glib vocal tones and simplistic yet repetitive composition. "'Pushing Your Luck' showcases Vek at his most frustrating and teases a themes the runs through the rest of the album. This frustration comes from the juxtaposition of an instrumentally great track with the chorus of the words “all you do is push your luck” repeated again and again’ say The 405. Listen below...
Tom Vek will undertake a 10-date tour this Autumn, culminating at London’s Koko on 15th October. He plays Latitude Festival, Boardmaster, Split, Y Not and Festival No 6 throughout the summer.
Londoner Tom Vek studied design at Central Saint Martins before his self-produced music was picked up by an independent label and subsequently licensed through a major, 2005's “We Have Sound” and 2011's “Leisure Seizure” were examples of how ambitious a lo-fi rock hybrid could sound. Luck is released on highly respected London independent Moshi Moshi.
