Second album by Automelodi

02nd of December 2013, 20:35

Surlendemains Acides is the second full length from Xavier Paradis’ project Automelodi, and his first on new label Electric Voice Records.
As with Automelodi’s past efforts, this sophomore LP does offer a nod to obscure ‘80/’90s European electronic music—artists such as Trisomie 21 and Grauzone among others—but the main focus of the arrangements, melodies and production on Surlendemains Acides is to frame and carry the album's very dense and personal lyrical universe: a bittersweet, angular path, haunted by shades of anxiety and disenchantment.
These themes translate especially well through Paradis’ cold, yet shimmering French vocals, to create a listening experience with both unusual depth and levity. As Paradis clearly moves towards straightforward songcraft on this latest effort, the Automelodi project is elevated beyond a brilliant work of post modern electronic music to become a true stand-out within the broader context of popular music.

New COIL / NINE INCH NAILS Release On Cold Spring

02nd of December 2013, 20:29

"Recoiled" is a rambunctious alchemy, of magikal Coil sensibilities and hi-tech home circa 90’s mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of Danny Hyde / Peter Christopherson.
These were the unrestrained PRE- BIG studio- mix downs, of four songs which long time Coil admirer / collaborator Trent Reznor requested Coil to remix. Reznor sent over the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde / Christopherson, who independently mixed versions and then met to synch both creations, molding them into these master versions.
"Recoiled" includes a fuller, more opulent version of the track 'Closer', which eventually made it onto the opening credits to the movie "SE7EN". These 5 lengthy compositions are pre-Ableton / laptop generation type priest song creations, with the use of baby alarms and numerous wires to create bespoke effects.
These legendary tracks were always rumoured to exist and, only the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum who hunted them down, are released/unleashed for your listening pleasure.
4 of the tracks were released on the download-only "Uncoiled". A bonus, previously unheard track from the same sessions closes the album. Jhonn Balance is also manifest on this gilded constellation

THE BIM-FILES: Implant

02nd of December 2013, 17:18

The third band who are part of this year's excellent BIM line-up are Implant

Who are they?

Implantology : The art and science of diagnosis, treatment, maintenance, and problem management of implant based medicine.

Implant, the project of Len Lemeire, has been trying to contribute to the already massive inheritance of the Belgian electronic scene since 1992.
8 full length albums, 7 EP's, uncountable remixes and several productions later, one can only agree that the music itself is the universal language. It was because of his music that Len teamed up with several of the early pioneers of electronic music.
When Anne Clark heard Len's remix for ‘Sleeper in Metropolis', Implant became the electronic live band of Anne Clark for 5 years, resulting in guest contributions of Anne on 2 albums (‘Audio Blender' and ‘Self Inflicted').

When Jean-Luc de Meyer (FRONT 242) heard an implant track, he decided not only to contribute vocals for 1 track, but a full blown new project was born under the flag of 32CRASH (Also perfoming at BIMFEST 2013).
Building on a live reputation with concerts all over Europe and a short visit to the USA , Implant is ready to engage in another musical adventure called : ‘Implantology', an attraction sonic pole where all the various musical orientations Implant went through in his lustrous career converge and unite.

Keeping the innovation flourishing, Implant forge the frontiers of eclecticism and sound diversity more than ever before and even manages this time injecting some acoustic guitar sounds into their impressive mélange of modern electronics, eighties melodic less-is-more flavors, industrial dance beats and beautifully contrasting male/female vocals. Len is here once again surrounded by prestigious guest vocalists like his partner in crime Front 242's Jean-Luc De Meyer, but also The Neon Judgement, Psy'Avaih, Plastic Noise Experience or yet Angelsplit!

What do they have to say?

Well, you can read the interview here....

Do you dare to watch the Mummies Dance in Characula's new music video?

02nd of December 2013, 17:08

Characula is a horror rock goddess with a difference. Currently living in Southern California where she’s already caused a storm, she is neither vampire, nor werewolf, mummy nor any other creature known from myth and folklore. Part sci-fi, part horror and all glamour, she-demon Characula is an entity to behold –and hear!

Mummy Dance is her latest track, full of fantasy and drawing attraction between old and new mythology. You can check out the creepy video if you dare
