Homescreen presents Bellas Mariposas

27th of November 2013, 18:06

Homescreen is one of the finest labels in the Benelux you can find if you’re looking for great arthouse. From now on Peek-A-Boo will present you their releases. The first in line is Bellas Mariposas.

This movie has already been compared to great Italian classics such as Brutti, Sporchi E Cattivi, Gomorra and even the excellent Zazie Dans Le Metro by Louis Malle.

Synopsis: 3 August, Cagliari: a poor neighborhood. At three in the morning eleven-year-old Cate is woken by the screams of her eccentric neighbor. Cate wants to run away from that apartment, from her numerous and problematic siblings and her tyrannical father. Only Gigi, a neighbor, is worthy of her love. She does not want to end up like her sister Mandarina, who got pregnant at thirteen. Or like Samantha, the neighborhood sex siren. And today, on 3 August, Gigi’s life is in danger: Tonio, Cate’s brother, wants to kill him. Cate warns Luna, her best friend. The two of them spend the longest day of their lives between the city, the sea and a thousand adventures. But her beloved Gigi is in danger. And when everything seems lost, during the night a beautiful woman appears out of nowhere: the mysterious Aleni, a witch who apparently can see into people’s futures...

The movie is out on dvd this 5th December on Homescreen.

Out Of Line presents new album by Solitary Experiments

27th of November 2013, 17:57

erlin’s most popular export for solid and extremely catchy electronic anthems is back! Solitary Experiments are releasing their best album to date as a deluxe double CD version (with a real surprise on CD 2) and as fan box set with exclusive bonus disc and extras, limited to 500 copies.

“Never change a working system” is a popular saying in IT-circles and “PHENOMENA”, the new long player from Solitary Experiments showcases a mature band that is fully aware of all its strengths and plays the cards accordingly while avoiding any kind of stagnation at all costs, always carefully advancing the trademark sound with a myriad of new influences and elements.

In 2013, the Solitary-Experiments-experience is more hit-laden than ever, as the club-filler “Trial And Error” (the MCD was sold out in a matter of weeks) and the highly wanted compilation track “Stars” which quickly became a DJ favourite effectively proved in advance. The Berlin-based band has pretty much always been the ideal link between Synth Pop sounds for the masses and the harder Electro-faction, this time around balancing real feelings, synthetic oomph and harsh elements to utter perfection.

The result takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride through emotional depths and effectively-dosed aggressive attacks while always keeping a keen eye on dance floor compatibility. “PHENOMENA” will hit shops as a deluxe double CD with a special surprise on disc 2.

Having long been fascinated by the idea of how their tunes might sound when interpreted by guitar driven acts, the lads sent out a call which was answered by a strong line up of well known performers from all ends of the scene. Bands like Staubkind, OST+FRONT, Lord Of The Lost, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, Kitty In A Casket and many more have recorded their own visions of some of Solitary Experiments’ classic tunes so that you can experience them in a way you never have before.

For the diehard fans, “PHENOMENA” is also being released as a special fan set in an embossed metal box containing the double disc, an exclusive bonus CD that has Solitary Experiments doing cover versions of some of their favorites from the Eighties, as well as a deck of cards in SE-design and a metal badge, all limited to 500 copies. Solid, catchy and utterly addictive… for aficionados of melodic and thudding Electronica, this PHENOMENAl album is a must-own!

'I can't live in a living room' goes Italian

27th of November 2013, 17:47

In some way that is! Everybody seems to know this Belgian classic by Red Zebra and so it happens that the Italian director Asia Argento (yes, daughter from Dario!) has asked Peter Slabbynck if she can use 'I can't live in a living room' for her next movie 'Incompresa'.

It seems like this punkanthem is having a second life in the movies as it’s also used in the newest trailer from Geoffrey Enthoven’s upcoming movie!

JBLA announces first release with L.I.E.S. Recordings remixes

26th of November 2013, 17:56

JBLA came into being after Julian Jöckel (midnightopera) and Stuart Argabright (Ike Yard, Black Rain, o13) performed at a party in Brussels on the 5th of Oct. 2012 on invitation from Bernardo Risquez & Michael Langeder (Different Fountains).

They all had met for the first time the year before through Michael Kreitz from meakusma when Different Fountains & o13 played concerts in Eupen. After staying at Different Fountains studio the day after the Brussels event they set up a rather improvised jam session. Julian played synth on a yamaha dx7, Bernardo worked the low frequencies on an old eminent organ while Michael contributed machine sounds and took care of the live fx engineering. Stuart put together some words and brought a beat to the occasion of the jam session at the DF studio.

During the short Euro tour with Ike Yard, L.I.E.S label head Ron Morelli and artist Svengalisghost came to the Paris show and were talking with Stuart about the streetwalkers of Belleville, specifically the sad Chinese hookers out on the street. Combined with news about recent Foxxconn workers suicides in China and witnessing altercations close to the Air BnB where he stayed.

The Belleville EP are two cuts from that session with remixes from Ron Morelli + Svengalisghost and Vereker.
