She Pleasures Herself pays tribute to Red Zebra's 'Can't Live In A Living Room'
Last year, Peter Slabbynck (former Red Zebra singer, and now EX-RZ) celebrated 35 years 'I Can’t Live In A Living Room' with 35 mini-concerts in 35 living rooms. The fact that Peter Slabbynck and Red Zebra influenced many is proven once again by this tribute of the contemporary Portuguese New Wave and Gothic Rock formation She Pleasures Herself. Style-wise this version might sound less punkie than the original version but more like an ear candy to fans of for instance The Sister Of Mercy and their many spin-offs.

"In 1982 Die Form released their debut vinyl album, “Die Puppe” in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. “Zoo” is a compilation of 10 tracks recorded during the “Die Puppe” sessions from 1980-82. These were the first esoteric electronic experiments, often improvised. Underlying themes of eroticism, death, and other ‘taboo’ subjects become apparent in both the music and the album artwork, which Philippe also produced.
The album was recorded with entirely analog equipment, including a Roland MC4 Micro-Composer, TR-808 Rhythm Composer, ARP 2600, and Kawai 60F recorded to a Revox B77 reel to reel tape machine. Songs range from hypnotic, minimalistic proto-IDM to daring experimental sound manipulation. 4 of these songs were featured as a bonus 7” to accompany the 1989 vinyl reissue of “Die Puppe” but remixed for the project. The remaining 6 songs were also remixed and released on CD in 2001.
For this reissue we asked the band to transfer the analog Revox tapes to release never before heard original versions of all 10 tracks." (Dark Entries Records / USA)

'The Blinding Dark', COVENANTs 9th studio album to be released November 4th, 2016, is exciting not only because of its compelling title, but also since it shows a remarkable development in style, something that COVENANT decidedly wanted to do with this record – and not least thanks to the subject matter they address. The Swedish/German outfit has perhaps just delivered their artistically most ambitious album yet.
The advance single „Sound Mirrors“ already insinuated that COVENANT are delving more deeply into their subject matter than on previous albums: Said sound mirrors were anti-aircraft installations made of concrete along the British coast between WWI and the mid-1930s, serving as a parable on the panic and denial of the tide of refugees that is manifest in Europe, including COVENANTs home country Sweden: However, the prophetic lines on the advance single were only the introducing chapter of this album, which is wholly dedicated to confronting the dark side of the individual self.

It’s also a new chapter for COVENANT. The trio that became a quintet (featuring Andreas Catjar, Daniel Jonasson, Joakim Montelius, Daniel Myer and Eskil Simonsson) hasn’t sounded this dark, moody and on target since their legendary 2nd album 'Sequencer' twenty-two years ago. Yet there is nothing nostalgic about 'The Blinding Dark'. It steers like a probing Nautilus through black waters, straight towards the future, never looking back.
