Basic Unit Productions Signs Black Nail Caberet

11th of November 2014, 09:20

The Germany based label Basic Unit Announces they have signed the Synthpop act Black Nail Cabaret.

Black Nail Cabaret is a Hungarian noir synthpop duo from Budapest. Formed in 2008, the group consists of Emese „Emke“ Arvai-Illes (vocals) and Zsofia “Sophie” Tarr (keyboards). Since the very beginning the girls work together with producer Krisztian “Devon” Arvai, who also serves as their sound engineer at live shows. Satisfaction is the precursor of Black Nail Cabaret´s second album “Harry Me, Marry Me, Bury Me, Bite Me”, which will cover the full range of the band´s “Pop Noir”. The album will be released by Basic Unit Productions in Europe and Negative Gain Productions in North & South America in March 2015.

Emese about Satisfaction:

“Almost all people who knew the song previously associated it to sexuality and pleasure. It is actually the opposite: we've been all through this, living on your own, have no one to talk to or have sex with, so there is only your imagination and no matter how hard you try, at some point you'll feel frustrated. Even depressed, like going down a funnel, and you're more and more desperate about getting out, which makes things even harder. We're very happy with Bianka Vago's video, I think her sort of expressionist pictures show exactly what we wanted to tell about that psychological game we tend to play with ourselves, and even more: BNC's current frustration is that we are separated by distance, which affects our emotional and creative support towards each other.”

The official music video directed by Bianka Vago will be released on or around the official release date of the single. Satisfaction will be released November 28th on both Basic Unit Productions and Negative Gain Productions. It will be available as a Digital Download only.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much - on Blu-ray/DVD 17th November

10th of November 2014, 17:16

Arrow Video is thrilled to announce the UK Blu-ray and DVD release of Mario Bava’s The Girl Who Knew Too Much, complete with a stunning new restoration, the new disc arrives in the UK on 17th November. This new deluxe release will include both The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Bava’s original version and Evil Eye, the re-edited, re-dubbed and re-titled US version.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much is the latest addition to Arrow Video’s ever-growing series of Mario Bava following Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, Lisa and the Devil, Bay of Blood, Baron Blood and the recently-reconstructed Rabid Dogs.

Arrow Video have worked from the original pre-print film elements to present The Girl Who Knew Too Much in a brand-new digitally remastered edition. As with previous Bava titles, this set contains both versions/cuts of the film, in this case the US re-edit Evil Eye, in high definition.

Together with both versions, the disc contains a newly translated English subtitle track, alongside an audio commentary with Mario Bava biographer Tim Lucas. Also present are the featurette All About the Girl, in which filmmakers Luigi Cozzi (The Killer Must Kill Again) and Richard Stanley (Dust Devil), alongside authors Alan Jones (Profondo Argento) and Mikel Koven (La Dolce Morte) reflect on Mario Bava’s classic giallo, plus by Jones, the international and US trailers and a collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by Kier-La Janisse, encased in a reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys.

Synopsis

With a nod to Hitchcock and a wink in the direction of Agatha Christie, The Girl Who Knew Too Much inadvertently created a genre that would dominate Italian cinema for years to come: the giallo.

A young American secretary with a taste for lurid paperbacks witnesses a murder whilst visiting Rome – or does she? Nobody will believe her, but she appears to have stumbled upon the work of a serial killer active ten years earlier. The victims’ surnames began A, B and C… and hers begins with the letter D!

Starring the striking Letícia Román and John Saxon (Enter the Dragon, Tenebrae, A Nightmare on Elm Street), The Girl Who Knew Too Much is presented in both its original Italian version and the longer US cut, entitled Evil Eye, that was re-edited and re-scored by American International Pictures.

Zombie Girl returns with cover of The Cure hit 'Fascination street'

10th of November 2014, 17:11

One of the most successful electro acts of the past decade, ZOMBIE GIRL, is prepping a comeback. Those who downloaded the free compilation "Matrix Downloaded 003" a few months ago could already hear a first new track by ZOMBIE GIRL, namely "Panic Attack", but now the band also popped up on the brand new The Cure tribute album "A Strange Play - An Alfa Matrix Tribute To The Cure" to deliver a rather juicy sung cover of THE CURE's "Fascination street".

On the official ZOMBIE GIRL Facebook page, the band announces that they have finished the recordings of their brand new album, their first studio album since 2007's "Blood, Brains & Rock'N'Roll" which continues to be a major selling album for the label Alfa Matrix.

The band also announced a first tracklist which will have include the previously released "Panic Attack" next to a lot of other tracks including "Killer Queen", "Rave of the Dead", "Night Drive", "Thorazine", "X Kiss X Kiss X Kiss", "Pleasure Games", "Pleasure Victim", and so on. You can listen to the track on Spotify, or download right here on Bandcamp and iTunes. A 2CD version of the THE CURE tribute is available from Alfa Matrix.

NEWS Matt Damon returns as Jason Bourne

Matt Damon returns as Jason Bourne

10th of November 2014, 11:01

At an event earlier this week, Matt Damon finally confirmed that he'll reprise the role of Jason Bourne in in 2016. Speaking to E! News at a party for Project Greenlight, Damon stated that he'll be reuniting with director Paul Greengrass for the project, with the film hitting theaters the following year. According to the actor, "I just needed [Greengrass] to say yes."

The seemingly unintended announcement confirms an earlier Deadline story that stated Universal Pictures was in talks with both Damon and Greengrass for a fifth installment to the Bourne saga. After 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum, the third in the series overall, Greengrass walked away from the franchise. With Bourne's quest to regain his memories complete, the character, the director felt, was at a creative dead end. 2012's The Bourne Legacy starred Jeremy Renner in an entirely different role and met with a lukewarm critical reception. It's still unclear what new adventures Bourne has ahead of him, but fans can now fully expect a continuation to his story.
