David started making music at the end of the eighties with an ultra confidential project called Art Kinder Industrie, based in Marseille. He was the first artist to sign on the german label International Deejay Gigolo owned by DJ Hell with the maxi "Boing Bum Tschag/ Innerwood" released in 1996.
He is one of the most influencial electro french artist in the world and a pioneer of the Techno scene as soon as 1994 with a maxi released on Harthouse, Sven Vath 's mythical label. His music is characterized by an analog techno sound backed up by retro-futuristic synthesizers that take their roots as much in Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb 's EBM as in Giorgio Moroder or Bobby Orlando's disco basslines.
After having released three albums ensenced by both audiences and critics, more than a dozen EPs full of dancefloor anthems, more than fifty remixes, and having inspired DJ Hell to create International Deejay Gigolo 20 years ago, David Carretta is one of the founders of the Electro Clash movement in 1999 with his album « Catalogue Électronique » that will start an international wave from which he is the spiritual godfather.
Following the incredible success of his productions for the label Gigolo, David has been having an internatioal career spreading his Techno/ New Beat / EBM / Italo Disco in the biggest clubs and festivals around the world. He founds his own label Space Factory in 2003 on which he releases his ultimate album, the very cosmic « Rodeo Disco » in 2008. Then in 2011 he joins the label Zone, founded by The Hacker and Gesaffelstein, on which he signs two fantastic EPs : « Crash » ( with Workerpoor) and « Land Of Sin », a cold, surgical, industrial techno without any concessions.
Unknown Pleasures Records is happy to welcome in his team this essential character of the Electronic scene to celebrate his twenty years of career with the release of a compilation CD soberly called « Two Decades: A Retrospective » which includes the artist's best titles in "radio edit" format as well as a new unreleased track called Retrospective in the vein of the awesome "I feel love" Patrick Cowley dirty disco remix.

Tinariwen announce live album 'Live In Paris, Oukis N'Asuf' will be released on Friday November 20th 2015 on Wedge
The album was recorded at a very special concert at the Bouffes du Nord in Paris on Saturday 13th December 2014 and features the band performing alongside 75-year-old ‘grand dame’ of Tamashek culture Lalla Badi.
Additionally a limited edition version of the album will be available featuring a gig poster designed by Chris Hopewell of Jacknife Prints (www.jacknifeposters.bigcartel.com). Limited to 250 copies, the posters will be hand numbered and signed.
The album’s title, Oukis N’Asuf, which, translated literally, means to take away, forget or get over heart-ache and longing. Asuf - the longing of the soul - conjures up the feeling of separation from the Touareg camp, the physical environment of the desert, its emptiness, its blackness, and its spirits.
“When you feel asuf” says bassist Eyadou ag Leche, “you get shivers all over your skin.”
A hypnotic evening of guitar and tindé (small mortar drum covered by a taut goatskin) normally reserved for more in intimate spaces - around a fire in the desert in southern Algeria perhaps, or in the yard of a house somewhere in the northern Mali – this very special show came at the very end of a tour comprising more than 130 dates, undertaken in part to promote their last album Emmaar.
Lalla Badi, who remains the queen of tindé (a word that denotes both an instrument played exclusively by women, and a poetic repertoire which is sung at ceremonies and special occasions), is originally from Timiaoune in the far south of the Algerian Sahara and now lives in Tamanrasset.
She became a mentor to the Touareg in the 1970s, thanks both to her mastery of this musical genre and her commitment to the Touareg cause. Back then she took in the ishumars (unemployed vagrants), those Touareg who had set off to Libya in search of a better life.
Like them, the future members of Tinariwen also fled repression and the crippling droughts of northern Mali in those dark years, stopping off in Algeria along the way. Lalla Badi took them under her wing, became like a mother to them, a big sister, an accomplice and the performance in Paris, her first show in France in over thirty years, gave Tinarwen the opportunity to show their respect and gratitude.

Asuf - het verlangen van de ziel - roept het gevoel op van de scheiding van het Touareg kamp, de fysieke omgeving van de woestijn, de leegte, de duisternis en de geesten.
"Als je het gevoel asuf hebt", zegt bassist Eyadou ag Leche, " krijg je rillingen over je huid."
De toer met 130 data dat diende om hun laatste album Emmaar te promoten werd gebracht met gitaar en Tinde (een drum bedekt door een strak geitenvel), een tafereel dat je normaal alleen maar aantreft rond een vuur in de woestijn in het zuiden van Algerije.
Lalla Badi, de koningin van de Tinde komt oorspronkelijk uit Timiaoune in het uiterste zuiden van de Algerijnse Sahara en woont nu in Tamanrasset. Ze werd een mentor aan de Touareg in 1970, zowel voor haar talent als voor haar inzet voor de Touareg oorzaak. Ze bekommerde zich om de ishumars (werkloze zwervers).
