New York City is a world of shadows, thieves and con men, its chilling concrete landscapes are a fitting filmic backdrop for the aural futuristic pleasures of NOIR, a band whose deep electronic rhythms fuel darkened beats that conjure stark cinematic images from yesteryear merged with the cold machinery of the future. Conceptualized by vocalist Athan Maroulis, veteran of the pioneering electronic industrial act Spahn Ranch, NOIR is a sensuous electronic return to form for Maroulis, who also fronts dark cabaret legends Black Tape For a Blue Girl. The result was the 2013 critically acclaimed release Darkly Near, an album that Side Line Music Magazine said, "probably stands for the most intimate electro project Athan Maroulis has ever been involved with. It all sounds like revealing his deepest inner thoughts transposed into electronic grace, musical poetry and simply finesse.

" While FEARnet stated that Darkly Near "moves NOIR to the front of the dark electro-pop pack, with a mature refinement that places the band in a class by itself." NOIR's latest release RE:MIT:TENT offers 20 remixes of songs from Darkly Near featuring a disparaging list of names from all over the electronic music field including ManMadeMan, Assemblage 23, Dead Voices On Air, Ludovico Technique, Decoded Feedback, Die Sektor, Black Tape for a Blue Girl and many others.

Dunkelziffer is one of the scenes most influential electro band's sixth studio album. Gigs, festivals and tours carried the name [:SITD:] around the world. Their club hits as Snuff Machinery, Laughingstock, Richtfest I & II, Kreuzgang and Rot are milestones, and timeless classics on international dance floors. 

In [:SITD:]'s cosmos various electronic styles melt into a sinister fascinating opus with an unmistakable signature. Their equally sweeping and hymnlike melodies, supported by hammering beats and driving grooves, have become a unique trademark. The three protagonists Carsten Jacek, Tom Lesczenski, and Francesco D'Angelo reinvent themselves time and again without denying their musical roots. With Dunkelziffer the trio presents itself at the peak of their creative endeavors. Gloomily, powerfully, and morbidly the new songs amount to a menacing thunderstorm, while the lyrics keep digging heavily and deeply in the furtive, ruthlessly revealing the abyss of the human psyche. 

On 10/31/2014, Dunkelziffer will be released at Scanner/ Dark Dimensions (distribution: Broken Silence) in three different formats: As a regular cd, a very limited double cd (in a beautiful digipak including a Hellfeld bonus cd with 10 exclusive tracks, in addition to a special for all collectors and friends of analogue listening experiences on vinyl. 

Furthermore, the Ruhr Area band filmed a video for the title song with director Boris May (Klangstabil). It will be available on all established portals on the release date. 

The release will be supported by a tour (together with label mates BhamBhamHara as special guests) in November and December 2014

BHAMBHAMHARA is the name of a brand-new project of Jan Bicker and Axel Ermes. Both sound tinkerers became acquainted in 2012 during a silence retreat, both in search of new experiences off the dulling propaganda of mass media. 

They quickly decided to produce together intelligent and straight electronic dance music. While Jan was already working on pure electronics as a co-founder of the German cult formation ABSCESS, Axel stayed long time as a bass player in the dark post punk and gothic scene (CANCER BARRACK & GIRLS UNDER GLASS). He also operated in his studio as a composer for WOLFSHEIM where he could work on his predilection for melancholy melodies and cultivated Synthiepop.

When he worked behind the mixing desk for bands like [:SITD::], COMBICHRIST, PROJECT PITCHFORK, FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY and many others he also fell in love with danceable hard electronics. In Frank D'Angelo they both found a motivated partner for the label work. Now after two single releases that successfully stayed a while in the German Alternative Charts (DAC) (KREISLAUF & NUR FÜR EUCH) the debut album PROGRESSIVE BODY MUSIC will be released. Musically the album offers just exactly this: progressive body music, a mix suited for club from EBM, Electro, Synth Pop and Dance. Fresh tunes for the clubs, cynical lyrics for the head. 

PROGRESSIVE BODY MUSIC is a round and diverse debut album which contains on almost 70 minutes clubby, danceable masterpieces and intelligent electro-hymns.

In November Universal releases both thethird season from Grimm and a box containing all seasons.

Under the effects of the Cracher-Mortel toxin, Nick causes the plane carrying him to Europe to crash leaving him as the only survivor. In his mindless state, Nick kills a man in self-defense before being captured and cured by the rest of the team. A residual effect of the Cracher-Mortel toxin means that Nick's endurance is increased along with his strength. Another side effect is that while sleeping he can appear to be dead, scaring Juliette.

Juliette, with her new-found knowledge of the Wesen world, enthusiastically joins Nick, Hank, Monroe, and Rosalee in their adventures, even discovering a treatment for an old Wesen disease, that previously necessitated a death sentence from the Wesen Council.

Adalind's pregnancy continues and Captain Renard realizes that the rumored royal baby being offered for sale could be Adalind's. Captain Renard arranges for the assassination of his half brother, Eric, who is replaced in the royal hierarchy by his cousin Viktor.

Arrow Films’ Arrow Academy label is proud to announce the release of Jules Dassin’s classic film noir The Naked City, making its worldwide Blu-ray debut on 27th October. The Naked City is the latest Dassin title to join the Arrow Academy collection following Rififi and Brute Force.

The Naked City, shot partially in documentary style, was filmed on location on the streets of New York City and features landmarks such as the Williamsburg Bridge and the Whitehall Building. Winning two Academy Awards, one for cinematography and another for film editing, the film has more recently gone one to be selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Its visual style was inspired by New York photographer Weegee, who published a book of photographs of New York life entitled Naked City (1945). Weegee was hired as a visual consultant on the film, and is credited with helping to craft its imagery.

Both Screenwriter Albert Maltz and Dassin were to subsequently fall foul of the notorious House Un-American Activities and Dassin, himself, was forced to leave the US. It’s ironic that having so clearly proved himself capable of telling us of the eight million stories of his American home, he was forced to leave that very place having only told one.

This deluxe edition will include an all-new high definition transfer of the film, alongside a wealth of extras including New York and The Naked City a newly-filmed look at New York's relationship with the moving image by Amy Taubin, a 40-minute interview with Jules Dassin at LACMA with Bruce Goldstein in which the director discusses his career and The Hollywood Ten and also the 1950 documentary short on the ten filmmakers blacklisted from Hollywood for their refusal to name names before the House of Un-American Activities, including The Naked City’s screenwriter, Albert Maltz.

The disc will also feature the striking artwork by Vladimir Zimakov and an extensive booklet, including essays on the main feature by Alastair Phillips (co-author of the BFI Screen Guide, 100 Film Noirs), on Oscar-winning cinematographer by Barry Salt of the London Film School, and on the spin-off TV series by Sergio Angelini.

Synopsis

Jules Dassin followed up his explosive prison picture Brute Force with another slice of hard-boiled crime fiction. Within a decade he’d make Thieves’ Highway, Night and the City and Rififi, thus confirming Dassin’s position as one of the all-time-great film noir directors.

New York, the middle of summer. A blonde ex-model is murdered in her bathtub and detectives Muldoon (Barry Fitzgerald) and Halloran (Don Taylor) are assigned to the case. Their investigation will lead them through the entire city, from Park Avenue to the Lower East Side, culminating in a thrilling climax atop the Williamsburg Bridge.

Inspired by the work of the infamous tabloid photographer Weegee, The Naked City was the first major Hollywood production to be shot entirely on the streets of New York, making use of more than a hundred authentic locations. Both its editing and its cinematographer would earn Academy Awards, while the film itself would be recognised by the Library of Congress as one of American cinema’s most significant motion pictures.
