Today, exactly 28 years ago, Nine Inch Nails released their second single Head Like a Hole (HALO 3) taken from their debut album Pretty Hate Machine.
The single received massive critical acclaim and got heavy rotation on radiostations and MTV. Head Like A Hole became an instant (underground) hit and remains upon today still one of NIN’s main artifacts.
The song was covered by many artists since, amongst those DEVO and Nu-Metal band Korn.

Today it’s exactly 28 years ago that Nitzer Ebb released their third studio album Showtime on Mute Records (STUMM 72 / 20 March 1990).
The album has a whole has a very cohesive, uniform sound, despite each song being very unique, ranging from the more EBM-like Rope to the almost Industrial-Rock-ish Getting Closer. Three singles were taken from this album and released separately, Lightning Man, Fun To Be Had and Getting Closer.

Today, 38 years ago Joy Division released "Licht und Blindheit" (Light and Blindness). Originally released on 18 March 1980 by the French label Sordide Sentimental as a France-only single release. It was limited to 1578 copies and featured the tracks Atmosphere (A-side) and Dead Souls (B-side).
Following the death of Ian Curtis in May 1980, "Atmosphere" was released as a single along with She’s Lost Control.
The single was re-released in 1988 to coincide with the release of the Joy Division compilation album Substance. The video that came with this re-release of Atmosphere was directed by Anton Corbijn.

It is early 1981 when The Cure places an advertisement in the Melody Maker: 'support act wanted'. Hundreds of demos pop up on the doormats of Robert Smith and bandmates but there is only one that really impresses them. It’s the tape of a post-punk band that started only two years ago: And Also The Trees. Four English teenagers from a tiny village near Birmingham, who never thought a moment about fame at that time. Still, it happens anyway: during the day the Simon brothers and Justin Jones are sitting at their school desks, in the evening they play with their band in venues if front of hundreds of people. Robert Smith is so charmed by the brothers’ band he decides to produce their first demo tape, while The Cure colleague Lol Tolhurst later produced their debut album.
So far so good for And Also The Trees. A tour follows and the young band receives a lot of acclaim in France and Germany. Especially when their sound slowly changes from a typical new wave to a much more refined sound, based on their surroundings - the English countryside. Even when they continued to produce great albums, it doesn’t bring them the same star status of their contemporaries and friends The Cure. A conscious choice of the band, who find it more important to reinvent themselves with each album.
It does bring the band a real cult status in France, Germany and Japan where they sell-out venues such as the Paris Bataclan with ease. A status that, like the band itself, has been going on for several decades but they were never able to establish themselves in the Netherlands … until today! Their brand new compilation album Untangled, with seventeen handpicked songs by the band from a 39-year career, appears on 16th March 2018 on the Rotterdam-Based Indie label Gentlemen Recordings.
On this special compilation album you will find the best of 39 years of And Also The Trees, or of 13 studio albums and dozens of EPs. While listening you can hear the many transformations that the band went through, without breaking any style. Never heard of this band? No problem: Untangled will be released especially for the fans (and curious little ones) in the Netherlands and Flanders and is the ideal 'step-in'.

In the middle of the recording process of their forthcoming new album, the band's first since 2011's "Untergrund", Armageddon Dildos' Uwe Kanka decided to release the EP “Herbstzeitlose” on MCD and as a download.
The MCD itself consists of 4 brand-new tracks plus 7 bonus remixes. You can already listen to 2 tracks on Bandcamp.
The bonus remixes were executed by fellow German cult acts PNE and The Psychic Force, next to reworks by Tolchock, Hell:Sector, Venal Flesh, Kant Kino and Technoir.
Fans will love this new 11-track EP.
Armageddon Dildos formed as a duo (Uwe Kanka and Dirk Krause) in 1988 in Kassel, Germany and debuted 2 years later on the legendary Zoth Ommog label with the single "Never Mind / Pressure" followed up by "East West". In 1991 they launched their very first album "That's Armageddon". Since then the band conquered EBM hearts and minds despite having slowed down their output over the years.
As of 2011 the band is signed to the Belgian industrial label Alfa Matrix where they released "Undergrund".
