Ashbury Heights returns with new album

25th of June 2015, 12:20

Sweden's top Electro-Pop-Act returns with „The Looking Glass Society“ - an album that puts a decidedly contemporary spin on the duo's distinctive modern futurist sound and features 12 sublime new songs.

„I’d say our sound is a bit heavier and gloomier now, a lot of terrible personal stuff transpired during the last few years and our music and lyrics have come to reflect that.“: Anders Hagström, singer and founder of Ashbury Heights explains the new album. With new singer and first full collaborative partner in crime Tea F. Thime, Ashbury Heights not only returns with their strongest line-up ever, but have also managed to reinvigorate what is still the most exciting electro pop act to emerge from the scene in the past decade. „The Looking Glass Society“, a title which refers to the duo's shared love of Lewis Carroll's twisted and imaginative works, breathes new life into the group's trademark sound which expertly fuses new wave, synth pop and industrial with a distinctively modern approach to create catchy, yet intriguing songs. Not shying away from contemporary pop-production techniques and influences from the club-scene while always keeping a keen ear out for interesting new beats and sound designs, Ashbury Heights very successfully walk the tight rope between charts-appeal and art. “The Looking Glass Society” is perhaps best described as cerebral pop, featuring 12 extraordinarily strong songs (among them the fan favorite “Starlight”) with absolute hit-potential.

It soon becomes clear that these eggs are not of this planet, and someone intends to cultivate them here on Earth. But who? And to what end?

Album from Dear Strange out on Out Of Line

25th of June 2015, 12:15

The French-German duo Dear Strange revives the spirit of New Wave with modern Electronica in a most captivating way on the debut album “Lonely Heroes.”

Some music just pulls the listener in from the very start. Dear Strange's epic Electro-anthem “Unicorn” is such a rare specimen which had the entire Out-Of-Line-staff hooked instantaneously. Now, the duo has completed work on the eagerly awaited debut and it is nothing short of a revelation. The powerful voice of Dorian E. reminds of Wave-legends like Siouxsie Sioux and envelops the listener in a maelstrom of emotions, while sound wizard Romain Frequency re-invents the feeling of the dark side of the Eighties with Minimal-Electro- and club-sound-elements coming from an armada of synthesizers. Walking a tight line between catchiness and atmosphere, retro-feeling and modernity, vivid emotions and explicit coolness, Dear Strange create a postmodern-futuristic scheme for Pop music with substantial depth. From the mighty Dark-Wave-prowess of the previously mentioned “The Unicorn”, via the fusion of French-Pop, German New Wave and modern club sounds in the German-language tune “Licht” to the breezy dance sound of the title track – Dear Strange always manage to impress, overwhelm and captivate, yet always remain accessible and full of floor-filling spirit. “Lonely Heroes” is the New-Wave-sound of the future!

NEWS The New-Romantic-Dark-Electro-Pop-Industrial from Massive Ego

The New-Romantic-Dark-Electro-Pop-Industrial from Massive Ego

25th of June 2015, 12:10

As an ex-stage dancer for Boy George and ex-model, Marc Massive has had ample opportunity to look behind the glitzy facades of showbiz and beauty-circus. In his band Massive Ego, he uses his experiences to create the hottest New-Romantic-Dark-Electro-Pop-Industrial-hybrid in recent history.

Sporting extravagant outfits and a deliciously mad live show, Massive Ego look like a modern upgrade of the New-Romantic-movement of the Eighties, while at the same time intelligently parodying the photoshopped surface of the beauty-industry's über-egos. Having had what seems a lifetime of opportunities to look behind the faux-magic of the business, Marc Massive syphons his experiences into a fusion of counterculture-glamour and a middle finger stuck firmly in your face, expressed through a wild mix of catchy Synth-Pop, dark Electro-Industrial-influences and New-Romantic-cool, garnished with a healthy dose of black humor. “I Idolize You”, “Dead Silence Rising” and “Low Life” (feat. Empire State Human) instantly implant themselves in the listener's brain with obsession-inducing earworm-qualities. Also including remixes from Aesthetic Perfection and Leaether Strip, plus an assortment of floor-filling alternative versions, “Noise In The Machine”, returns a much-needed element of anarchic glitz to the underground-discos. Please take care: highly addictive!
