The coming-of-age movie Locating Silver Lake, distributed by Gunpowder & Sky (Cam, Lords of Chaos...), is available on VOD and DVD now!
About the movie:
When I traveled to Edinburgh Film Fest last June there was one movie I really wanted to see: Locating Silver Lake. Maybe the coming-of-age movie, written and directed by Eric Bilitch, was the main reason to for visiting Scotland. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was.
I had watched Eric's first movie The Submarine Kid in advance and I got really curious about his latest feature film starring Josh Peck, Aubrey Peeples and Finn Wittrock. To be honest, I didn't manage to write a review right after the international movie premiere. Of course, not because the movie had been so bad. It simply left me thoughtful and somewhat puzzled as the storyline had been anything but predictable. This is why I waited for the movie to be eventually released digitally on March 22! Locating Silver Lake is definitely a movie you have to watch more than once! And I instantly got lost in details. Wonderful details.
Ok, let's talk about the movie plot. Don't worry, I won't spoil it here :)
College-graduate Daniel (Josh Peck) gets dumped by his girlfriend and moves to Los Angeles to find his place there as a writer. He rents an apartment from the very helpful José (Amaury Nolasco) and tries to get over his Ex. Later on, Daniel meets Seth (Finn Wittrock) in a local bar. He is the flamboyant leader of a group of friends - one of them Daniel's old friend Ella (Zelda Williams). Seth seems to have all the answers to Daniel's questions and offers him his help for the best possible start in LA. The new friendship ends abruptly when Daniel falls in love with Ella's sister Talya (Aubrey Peeples). What's really behind the glitter curtain? Why does Seth's boyfriend Mack (Robbie Kay) leave the group in a mad rush and why is Talya treating Daniel so dismissively? And what lies behind the machismo of José's friends?
Locating Silver Lake comes up with an outstanding cast, most notably Finn Wittrock's performance which surpasses all my expectations.. Like no other Wittrock manages to breathe a soul into Seth's controversial key character. It should not be forgotten to mention the fabulous movie score composed by Harlan Silverman. An insider tipp for music enthusiasts! The movie is definitely a must-watch - not only for the fans of indie movies! You can watch it via iTunes, Amazon, Vudu and more!

Today it’s exactly 22 years ago Nine Inch Nails released their The Perfect Drug (Versions) EP!
The title song was originally written for the David Lynch cult film Lost Highway (1996) and appeared for the first time in early 1997 on the soundtrack with the same name which was produced by Trent Reznor himself. The soundtrack album included original filmscores written by Trent Renzor, Barry Adams and Angelo Badalamenti, as well as songs by, amongst others, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson and Rammstein.
Musically the song was very influenced by the late 90s Drum and Bass hype and was most successful in Canada where it peaked at the 2nd position in the regular ‘Single Chart’ as well as in the RPM Rock/Alternative Chart. In the US the single peaked at 17th position on the Billboard Hot Single Sales.
Until today however, the song was never performed live by the band.
Later Trent Reznor would state in an interview on BBC1 radio that The Perfect Drug is one of his least favourite songs he ever produced.
Besides the single, The Perfect Drug - Versions EP featured remixes by Nine Inch Nails, Meat Beat Manifesto, Plug, Spacetime Continuum and The Orb. The original version of The Perfect Drug however was only included on non-US releases.
The music video for this single was directed by Mark Romanek and inspired by the illustrations of 20th century artist Edward Gory. Besides Trent himself, the video also features his bandmates Charlie Clouser, Danny Lohner and Chris Vrenna.
The Perfect Drug (Lyrics)
I got my head but my head is unraveling
Can't keep control can't keep track of where it's traveling
I got my heart but my heart's no good
You're the only one that's understood
I come along but I don't know where you're taking me
I shouldn't go but you're wrenching, dragging, shaking me
Turn off the sun pull the stars from the sky
The more I give to you the more I die
And I want you
You are the perfect drug
You make me hard when I'm all soft inside
I see the truth when I'm all stupid-eyed
The arrow goes straight through my heart
Without you everything just falls apart
My blood just wants to say hello to you
My soul is so afraid to realize
How very little there is left of me
And I want you
You are the perfect drug
(Take me with you)
Without you everything just falls apart
It's not as much fun to pick up the pieces

This month it’s been 41 years since Kraftwerk released Die Roboter / The Robots!
This month it’s been 41 years since Kraftwerk released Die Roboter (The Robots), the first single which was taken from their iconic album Die Mensch-Machine (The Man-Machine) album (May 1978).
The original 7” single releases contained Die Roboter (The Robots) on at the A-side and Spacelab on the B-side. Both were shorter (radio) edits as they would appear on the album. The single was released with German sung version of Die Roboter, as well as an English sung version on the A-side. Both featured the English sung Spacelab on the B-side.
The lyrics reference to the at that time revolutionary technique of programming robots and how they can act as slaves for the human race.
The Russian words "Я твой слуга" (Ya tvoy slugá, " mean “I am your servant") and "Я твой работник" (Ya tvoy rabótnik, "I am your worker”).
When the song is performed live, the band is nowhere to be seen onstage but is replaced by legless robotic copies bearing recabling faces of all members.
In 1991, a re-recorded and re-arranged version of the song was issued as a single from the band's album The Mix.

Today it’s been 32 years since NITZER EBB released their legendary debut album That Total Age!
Today it’s been 32 years since Electronic Body Music ensemble NITZER EBB released their equal legendary debut album That Total Age (11 May 1987) on Mute Records. It was produced by Phil Harding. That Total Age was preceded by the singles Murderous (November 1986) and Let Your Body Learn (April 1987) while the third and final single to be taken from this album, Join in the Chant, followed in August the same year. The latter single would probably become one of the band's most known musical anthems and reached position 9 on the US Dance Charts of 1987.
That Total Age is considered to be one of the most important and influential Industrial / Electro / Electronic Body Music albums until this day.
The symbols on the cover of the album stand for "Force is Machine", "Visions of Order", and "Muscle and Hate".
That Total Age was released in many various versions like single 12” LP, double 12”, cassette album and CD.
