NEWS New album by The Zombies

New album by The Zombies

24th of October 2015, 21:58

The Zombies made their name in the 1960s with hits such as ‘She’s Not There’ and ‘Tell Her No’ and the legendarily majestic "Odessey And Oracle” LP.

The band’s serene, sublime sound combines the subtle keyboard skills of Rod Argent with the beautiful vocals of Colin Blunstone.

After Rod and Colin pursued their own successful careers for many years and the pair reunited in 2004.

The follow-up to 2011’s Breathe Out, Breathe In, STILL GOT THAT HUNGER contains many brand new songs written by Rod Argent, plus ‘Never Get Over You’ by Colin Blunstone, and a new version of their 1965 single ‘I Want You Back Again’.

The album was recorded at State of the Ark Studios in London with producer Chris Potter (The Verve, The Rolling Stones "Steel Wheels).

The Zombies will be touring Spain, France and the UK in support of their new album.

Rolling Stone Magazine: "Having influenced the likes of Nick Cave, R.E.M. and Foo Fighters, (The Zombies are) riding the wave of a heralded comeback album (2011’s), and chomping into a new generation of brains with their time-tested earworms.”

The new album Still Got That Hunger is now out on Cherry Red.

24th of October 2015, 21:26

Best Original Film Score of the Year goes to Antonio Sanchez's music for 'Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)'

The World Soundtrack Academy announced the winners of the 15th World Soundtrack Awards, the closing event of the 42nd Film Fest Gent, on the evening of Saturday 24 October at Kuipke in Ghent.

This year’s Best Original Song written directly for a Film is ‘The Apology Song' from 'The Book of Life’, with music by Gustavo Santaolalla, lyrics by Paul Williams and performed by Diego Luna. Discovery of the year 2015 also goes to Antonio Sanchez for ‘Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)’. The Sabam Award for Best Young Composer goes to Peer Kleinschmidt and John Paesano's music for ‘The Maze Runner’ won the Public Choice Award.

After the annual presentation of the prestigious film music prizes, Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Dirk Brossé, played a striking selection from the extensive oeuvre of the guest of honour, Alan Silvestri. He composed the score for 'The Walk', that had it's worldpremiere at the concert. The film music by Discovery of 2015 Daniel Pemberton, with the premiere of the score for 'Steve Jobs' was also given a well-deserved place in the concert, as was the music of Lifetime Achievement Award winner Patrick Doyle with the premiere of the music for 'Cinderella'.

Metroland close triadic series with double download EP

23rd of October 2015, 23:35

After paying homage to Walter Gropius’ dream, written down in his 1919 Bauhaus Manifesto, Belgium’s electronic act Metroland is about to close their triadic series with the release of a new double EP: “Re-design” and “Re-Design (Spacious Edition)” which is the third and final single release from their latest 3CD album “Triadic Ballet” (after the double EPs “Zeppelin” and “The Manifesto”) which is available here.

The 2 different download EPs each hold 3 songs. The regular edition comes with an exclusive 7inch remake of “Design” plus a total make-over by Belgian musician Polynomiq and the exclusive B-side track “Vers La Côte D’azur”.

The second EP – the Spacious Edition – comes with remixes by Jean-Marc Lederman, better known for his work with The Weathermen (and several other projects), and Jauzas The Shining. Add to that a Notstandskomitee remix of “Vers La Côte D’azur”.

The 2 EPs are available for download from today on via Bandcamp, iTunes etc and for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

The band is at the moment working on a new concept album. Details will be revealed when the first studio sessions have been completed later this Winter.
