Katadreuffe are from Amsterdam. Who, you say? Well, it’s a name taken from a book named Character by Ferdinand Borderwijk. A book every pupil has to read at school. I’m convinced though that these children will never hear this band though. Not that there’s something wrong with the music from Maarten Broekhuizen. On the contrary! This album has 11 tracks and the only names I can come up with are Wire, Fugazi and Swans. All by all good references, not? Loud, melodic guitars that go straight to the brain. Sometimes uncomfortable, but after a while you get used to it and you’re banging your head.
They do surely nothing new. 90% of the whole SUBPOP-catalogue sounds like Katadreuffe, but then again 90% of all the bands sound like The Beatles, so what?
Malconfort is out on Narrow minded on vinyl. Worth checking out if you’re into guitar noise.
