Bloc Party present new single 'The Love Within' - concert Brussels sold out!
Bloc Party today premiere their eagerly anticipated new song The Love Within, available to stream now via Infectious Music / BMG. The Love Within is a first taste from Bloc Party’s forthcoming, as-yet-untitled fifth album, due for release in early 2016.
Earlier today Bloc Party performed at Maida Vale studios to open BBC 6 Music Live, a week long series of live music broadcast from the legendary west London studios. The band’s set included new songs The Good News and Exes, alongside highlights from their considerable back catalogue including Octopus, Banquet and This Modern Love. In August Bloc Party played two sold out shows in the US at The Glass House, Pomona, and The Roxy, Los Angeles, before an acclaimed appearance at FYF Fest, where they headlined The Lawn stage. Dat film en muziek hand in hand gaan, weten we al langer. Op 16 oktober komt de soundtrack-cd uit van de Belgische horrorfilm ‘Welp’ (Engels: ‘Cub’). Met Steve Moore/Zombi (ex-The Hickey Underworld) als componist krijgt de film niet alleen ondersteuning, maar een extra dimensie. De film kreeg heel wat persaandacht, nu is het tijd voor de muziek!
Het verhaal:
In het horroravontuur vertrekt Sam, een fantasierijke, wat in zichzelf gekeerde welp, op scoutskamp naar de Ardennen. Eenmaal aangekomen in het bos, merkt Sam al snel dat er iets niet pluis is: hij ontdekt ondermeer een mysterieuze boomhut, bewoond door een verwilderd, gemaskerd boskind, Kai. De andere welpen en leiding hebben echter geen oren naar Sam’s avonturen: de jongen vertelt wel vaker straffe verhalen, en bovendien heeft leider Peter het te druk met te flirten met foerierster Jasmijn, dik tegen de zin van hoofdleider Kris. Alleen Sam lijkt te beseffen in wat voor gevaarlijke situatie de scouts zich bevinden: Kai blijkt namelijk slechts het hulpje van De Stroper, een lokale psychopaat die het bos rondom het scoutsterrein heeft bezaaid met dodelijke vallen…
Yes, you read it well. The cassette is still alive and kicking. Wool-E-Shop is well known for his tape releases (through the Wool-E Tapes label), and of course as the shop for alternative records and CD's. On 17th October Charnier (post punk from Brussels) and Sound &Vision (minimal synth) will play in the Wool E Shop in Gent.
4 cassettes will be released: Charnier, Sound&Vison, Unidentified Man (electronic, minimal, wave) and Klankdal.

Norma Loy, the pioneering Cold Wave act featuring UsherSan (whose latest projects Black Egg and Adan & Ilse were recently featured on this site) and Chelsea Reed, is planning to release a new album in 2016, according to their label Unknown Pleasures Records who just posted this on their Facebook page.
The album will be called Baphomet, but no further details have been announced so far. The inspirational run of UsherSan is likely to continue, thus we are impatiently waiting for the follow up of 2009’s Re/Wind album. In the same page, the label announced the addition of French EBM band Maman Kusters, Factice Factory and Shoegazers Follow Me Not to their roster. Interesting releases to come from the french label.

Experimenteel synthpop-fenomeen breit vervolg aan ‘Visions’
De excentrieke Canadese Claire Boucher pakte in 2012 uit met het sublieme ‘Visions’ en haar betoverende elektronische mishmash gecombineerd met Boucher’s ijle, ietwat creepy engelenstem sloeg in als een perfect gedropte hipsterbom. Tel daarbij haar uitgesproken persoonlijkheid, licht getormenteerde ziel, gewaagde uitspraken over drugsgebruik en de ‘Best New Music’-stempel van Pitchfork en je snapt meteen waarom Grimes gegeerd goed werd in hipsterland.
Ze verdween even van het synthpop-toneel, keilde een volledig afgewerkt album in de prullenmand en dook in maart 2015 terug op in de blogosfeer met puike single ‘REALiTi’. Daarna volgde een zomertour in de slipstream van Lana Del Rey en het fijne nieuws dat de nieuwe plaat in oktober zou volgen. Opnieuw op 4AD, thuisbasis van onder meer Ariel Pink, Daughter, Efterklang, Sohn en Bon Iver. “The alien love-child of Aphex Twin and ABBA” is terug!
