MERZBOW

Masami Akita is one of those artists who’ll always stay true to themselves. His approach is quite simple: releasing a certain number of albums, collaborations every year. Masami-san does everything not just following the canons of genres. Merzbow is the genre itself. He uses different kinds of noise; the level of volume and background sounds create a full palette of uneven sounds. Intensive soundtracks for divine-comedy-type-of-journey. While some parts may sound like a schizophrenic-type-of-screaming, like with “Kakapo Talk, Akita creates not more than a texture, giving you the liberty to compare and to get through different kinds of pulsations, of musical interpretations of word-structures, ike with onomatope “Takata Takata”, built on a repetition of a simple drum-structure that soon gets lost, covered by layers of sounds, emotions and roughness.
