My Dear Killer sounds a bit like the name of a hardcoreband. I’m not sure if Stefano S took his inspiration from the classic Italian horrormovie with the same name, but the music is certainly different (even if it has a frightening atmosphere as well).
My Dear Killer is a one-man-project which most musicfans will categorize under the flag of minimalist song-writing, whatever that might mean. If you don’t count the 7”inch-split with Rella The Woodcutter, The Electric Dragon Of Venus is the second album by My Dear Killer. Stefano collaborated with some friends from the underground (members from bands like Morose and Satan Is My Brother) on his newest offering. The result is a cd with ten tracks which are dark, weird and even a bit scary.
The core is pure simple songwriting like you can hear on thousands of so called bedroomtapes, but Stefano just add a little touch to it. Strange background noises (for instance simply some Russian voices) and if you combine that with his dark lyrics then the result is by times quite stunning.
The Electric Dragon Of Venus is surely not an easy record and we even recommend to use headphones as otherwise the details (which matter!) could get lost. If you’re out for Tim Buckley on drones, then My Dear Killer might be the answer.
