FOXY

On their tribute EP, FOXY seems to be thinking quite a lot about original versions of X-Ray Spex songs. It’s always a quite difficult task for anybody trying to do something like this. On the one hand – you need to preserve the integrity of an original sound nutshell. On the other hand, there are also some original elements of your sound and personal style you can’t refrain from adding. On “Bondage Cliche Mash Up” FOXY demonstrates it quite well. The vocal parts and the general balance are a bit different than the ones created by Poly Styrene. But this way it gives us the opportunity to feel how the sounds of a saxophone can resonate with the voice of the singer of the band – LP. Her singing is a little bit different and would probably fit for a Joan Jett’s tribute album. But, with it, the band has beaten this challenge. Well done, FOXY!
