Dark Dimensions

“I’ve been collecting shattered dreams, so I give up on my own dreams.”
Ghosting originated in Koblenz, Germany, in 1989. Singer – songwriter Sascha, who was 14 years of age at the time, had listened to his records and cassettes by the Sisters Of Mercy, The Cure, DAF, Kraftwerk, Nizzer Ebb, Dead Can Dance and Coil more than 1000 times until he got bored. He wanted new dark music, but couldn't find any. And so, out of sheer desperation, he formed a band to write just such music.
The name for his band came from inspiration by the ‘Gespenster-Geschichten’ kids comics. Very popular in Germany those days.
In 1992 they were one of the bands on stage at the first ever Wave-Gothic-Treffen in Leipzig. In the upcoming years, they played many gigs throughout Europe.
However in 2003 Sascha decided to leave the musical career path.
Present time, here and now, Ghosting is revived. And how! Though now as a solo studio project only Sasha has returned to creating haunting anthems and the most recent result; the ‘All Your Dreams’ EP.
Sascha: “In august 2024 I was playing my bass, using that ancient Goth Rock sound and trying out some riffs. I thought to myself maybe someone would be interested in yet another Goth Rock song? After publishing that riff on Instragram I played that day I got quite a resonance from the audience. That's when I decided to create (yet another) classic Goth Rock song.
The lyrics are, as always, subtle. I usually do not like lyrics that are too obvious about their topic. And I think the older I get, the better I manage to achieve this goal. In this case, it's of course *not* about somebody striving through the dream of others. It's about a dysfunctional relationship with a narcissist. The rest is up to the audience.
I chose to publish ‘Amphetamine Logic’ by The Sisters of Mercy, simply because I love this song, and I never dared to cover it --- because it already IS perfect the way it is! When preparing my one-time-back-on-stage for the 30th anniversary of the WGT in 2024, I realized this is my only and last chance to perform this song on stage. So I did. And I recorded it. And I like its so much, that I needed to share it with the world.
The third song is a ballad. I've always liked my ballades way more than my dance songs, but as destiny and fate do not really care what one wants, my ballades never gathered any attention. However, I need to create them. They are the real reason I'm into creating lyrics and music. This particular one, ‘Beyond Repair’, deals with the unfortunate struggle many mentally imbalanced people have to cope with in addition to their mental instability, the usual remarks of mentally better balanced people like "Buckle up!", or "Meditate, and all will be all right." The lyrics, imho, clearly say: No, it's not.”
‘All Your Dreams’ is a 4-tracks EP dipped in ‘old-school’ Post-Punk style. 4 tracks (including a bonus single edit) with typical 80s instrumentation electric guitars, electric bass and 12-string acoustics. Characterized by Sascha's unmistakable, gladly genre alien compositional technique.
Shadowy dark, mystifying, and indispensable, a ‘must-have’ for your Chiropteran-themed music collection.
