TV Smith was the founder, singer and songwriter of the legendary punkband ‘The Adverts’. Their second single ‘Gary Gilmore Eyes’ became a hit around 1978. TV Smith released pretty much albums who received good critics. He still performs a lot on stage. This EP contains four new and exclusive versions of ‘Gary Gilmore Eyes’.

The two KGB mixes sound different: the ‘Half Circle Mix’ sounds lighter and more as Post-punk/Synthpop. The ‘Let’ s Do It Mix’ sounds more like a Bollocks Brother version. The ‘Attrition vs TV Smith Mix’ is a nice, strong and darker version with female vocals in the chorus. The ‘Unplugged’ version is the least of the four. His voice suits better by Post-punk than by this naked version.

For lovers of TV Smith, The Adverts and similar music! Now obtainable on the new label ‘Tracks and Traces’, that is managed by Starman Records. On Vinyl with a the CD version included.

TV Smith was de stichter, zanger en songwriter van de legendarische punkband The Adverts. Hun tweede single ‘Gary Gilmore’s Eyes’ werd indertijd een hit. TV Smith bracht sindsdien veel goed ontvangen albums uit en treedt nu nog vaak op. Deze ep bevat ‘Gary Gilmore’s Eyes’ in vier nieuwe en exclusieve versies.

De twee KGB-mixes klinken verschillend: de ‘Half Circle Mix’ klinkt lichter en eerder als synthpop/postpunk. De ‘Let’s do it mix’ klinkt dan eerder als een Bollocks Brother-versie. De Attrition vs TV Smith is een leuke, potige en iets donkerdere versie met vrouwelijke vocals in het refrein. De 'unplugged' versie vind ik iets minder omdat zijn stem beter klinkt bij post-punk dan bij deze naakte versie.

Voor fans van TV Smith en The Adverts en gelijksoortige muziek een must. Nu verkrijgbaar op het nieuwe label ‘Tracks and Traces’, dat onder de vleugels van Starman records deze ep uitbrengt op vinyl met de cd als bonus.
