Mesh have always treated singles like postcards from the road between albums.
Hey Stranger fits that idea perfectly — a small, focused release that quietly signals the next chapter is right around the corner.
The title track lands right in that familiar Mesh comfort zone: warm synths, steady pulse, and Mark Hockings delivering another melody that slowly settles in rather than demanding instant attention. It feels reflective, calm and confident — very much a “we know who we are” kind of single.
Then comes Tilt, which easily turns out to be the EP’s secret highlight. Slightly darker, more danceable, and exactly the kind of B-side Mesh have always been great at. It adds depth and keeps the release from drifting too far into comfort territory.
The Straight Mix of Hey Stranger nudges the title track closer to the dancefloor with sharper edges and a bit more drive, while still keeping the emotional core intact.
And finally Exile, which already saw the light of day earlier this year in January, feels like a clear bridge towards the upcoming album release of The Truth Doesn’t Matter on March 27 and the tour kicking off in April.
Strong and very recognisable Hey Stranger does exactly what a Mesh EP should do: keep the atmosphere alive and gently push things forward.
