Holm / Mirland consist of Kim Holm (Recession Festival) and John R. Mirland (Mechanical Principle). The Holm/Mirland project is all about energy and curiosity, and started two years ago. This debut album from these Danish industrials is mastered by none other than Claus Larsen from Leaether Strip

The openings track ‘Numb’, directly gives a nice impression of what can be expected. Rhythmic dark industrial beats with some nice electronic loops. Even some nice danceable tracks on this album, ‘In Control’, ‘Voice’ or ‘Last Ride’ can be catalogued as electro pop with a spark of EBM , and can easily be played at some nice alternative party. Nice different rhythms, styles, and lots of analog electronics, with dark deep vocals, lift this album to a higher level.

But this album brings more than just some nice beats, the band also brings some darker experimental sounds, ‘ Mindscape’ brings you in a spacy mood and ‘The Mind’s Eye’ could easily be used as a soundtrack for a thriller or horror movie, the scary electronic beats and the lyrics give you goosebumps, and my personal favorite track on this album.

Comparisons with bands like Clock DVA or Absolute Body Control are never far away, but as a debut album this can count. Hope to hear more from Holm and Mirland in the near future
