Alice in...
03/03/2013, Didier BECU

The name sounds German, but they’re from Italy. And to make it even funnier, they’re a band and not one man as the name suggests. Sasha Polita (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, synth) Claudio Santoni (lead guitar, synth) Francesco Pellegrinelli (bass guitar, synth) Michele Bellagamba (drums) are the creators of excellent postpunk that will please the fans from Editors and The Exploding Boy.

And yet, you can’t say that Martin Kleid are bandwagoning as they add a nice electronic touch to their sound which makes them more original than the rest. Maybe the vocals could have been a bit rawer, but 8 Lights which is their first studio album that features 7 tracks are making them a welcome guest in the current postpunk-scene.

It’s very difficult to pick a favorite out of the seven songs as they’re all very addictive. So yes, after hearing the songs twice (or even from the very first listen) you’ll start to dance (and it wouldn’t surprise us if you begin to whistle as well!)

Nah, joking aside. Martin Klein know very well how to write a poppy tune and all that added with an irresistible sound. Just a shame the album is far too short, but there’s always a repeat button, not?
