Which albums should I have in my collection as an electro / EBM-fan? This must have been the question which Infacted Recordings had to answer when they started their “Alltime Classixx Collection”. Already reaching up to part 28 now, they're now bringing the compilationalbum “The Roots” by E-Craft.
Yes, a compilation, as it contains not just 1 ‘old’ release. No, it contains the best of “Die Stahl”, “Forge the steel” and “Reaktanz”, all dating from the period 1996-1998, completed with an ultra-rare track: Matris Maria, which was originaly released as an exclusive track on the Maschinenwelt Compilation of 1995.
It confirms what insiders already know for a long time: E-Craft is one of the best oldschool EBM-bands ever. This compilation is a nice anthology and contains a great view of what the band stood for in the 90’s. And still stands for, because the band is still active and keeps filling the air with their well-known EBM.
