Vampire Moon is an American gothic rock/darkwave duo, founded in 2018 by Eleanor and Victor. Both share a deep passion for music. The foundation is solid, and the vocal work is exceptionally strong (and unfortunately, not every artist out there can say the same).

The duo has released an EP: I Am Your Vampire Queen. Even the cover artwork already hints at the direction they’re taking.

But we’re looking beyond beautiful photography. Because yes, the passion for dark music is intensely tangible here. The opener is the title track: I Am Your Vampire Queen. Darkwave down to the smallest fiber. Vocally stunning. Musically, you get the familiar elements: drum machines and luscious synth lines. Eleanor’s voice drags you mercilessly into the dark veils of this song.

Victor manages to achieve that same effect with his voice. Once again, a vocal tone that truly hits you. Well, at least it did for me. Musically, it leans toward dark pop, with Blutengel as an obvious reference point—though vocally much stronger and more impactful. Pounding drums and, in the distance, guitars that sound so tormented you almost start to feel sorry for them.

There’s also plenty of variation. The End Smelled Like Sex carries a distinct eighties vibe, with a touch of post-punk, darkwave, and dark pop. And what the fuck—it works 100%. It’s got balls, even though Eleanor takes on the vocals here.

Two Doomed Hearts closes the EP. Once again, darkwave/dark pop of a high standard. Spot on from beginning to end.

For me, this is an absolute great discovery. I hope it will be the same for you. Check them out. Let yourself be pulled in. They’ve won me over.

Vampire Moon is een Amerikaans gothic rock/darkwave-duo, opgericht in 2018 door Eleanor en Victor. Beiden delen ze een diepe passie voor muziek. De basis zit stevig in elkaar en het vocale werk is zéér sterk (en dat kunnen we helaas niet van alle artiesten in het brede landschap zeggen).

Het duo heeft een EP uit: I Am Your Vampire Queen. De hoes laat alvast vermoeden welke richting het uitgaat.

Maar we kijken verder dan mooi fotografiewerk. Want ja, de passie voor donkere muziek is hier tergend sterk voelbaar. De opener is meteen de titelsong: I Am Your Vampire Queen. Darkwave tot in de kleinste vezel. Vocaal prachtig. Muzikaal horen we de gekende ingrediënten: drummachines en zalige synthpartijen. Eleanor’s stem sleurt je genadeloos mee in de donkere sluiers van deze song.

Victor weet met zijn stem datzelfde effect te bereiken. Ook hier een stemgeluid dat je écht raakt. Enfin, mij toch. Muzikaal neigt het naar darkpop, met Blutengel als referentie bij uitstek, al is het vocaal véél sterker en treffender. Pompende drums en op de achtergrond gitaren die zo getormenteerd klinken dat je er bijna medelijden mee krijgt.

Ook qua variatie zit het snor. The End Smelled Like Sex heeft een uitgesproken eighties-vibe, met een druppeltje postpunk, darkwave én darkpop. En what the fuck — het werkt weer voor de volle 100%. Het heeft ballen, ook al neemt Eleanor hier de vocalen op zich.

Two Doomed Hearts doet ons uittreden. Opnieuw darkwave/darkpop van hoog niveau. Van begin tot einde spot on.

Voor mij een absolute fijne ontdekking. Ik hoop voor jou hetzelfde. Check ze. Laat je inpakken. Mij hébben ze!
