ANTIBODY

Antibody (Jan Laustroer) presents a re-release of his 2015 single Shrimps on the German Future Fame label. Stylewise Antibody labels himself as power noise but does not seem as dark and aggressive as most expect power noise to be - this is far more hardcore than noise.

The single track is accompanied by eight (!) remixes from a selection of artists and one additional track entitled Pure Plain.

The very short (app. 3 mins) title track is a simple construction with a vocal sample being repeated through most of the track. For my taste the repeating vocal sample is the original’s weak point as it takes away focus from the beat and melody making it hard to disappear into the music.

The remixes continue in the vein of hardcore with distorted kicks and saw based stabs with the Reactor7x Remix surprisingly going into industrial EBM territory with a slower and more violent sound - by far the most interesting of the remix bunch together with the Caffeine Remix which takes the original track into power noise territory.

The pleasant surprise on this single is however the original Pure Plain track which seems much more accomplished and musically interesting but is far too short. Pure Plain is what I’d like to hear Antibody explore a lot more with it’s tough beat and bass sweeps and I’d really to hear Jan exploring his dark side a lot more.
