This Belgian band offers modern metal (core) that contains aggressiveness and strength. They come from the French part of Belgium and they have some nice credentials so far. In 2009 they released their first album Straight Line, that launched them to some big festival stages, and they were the support act for Pro-Pain as well. Pro-Pain is actually a band with whom they have a strong connection. In 2014 they played at Graspop, and Flashing Nightmare is their third album.

The album opens strongly with Genesis, but it is only from the fifth song that the record explodes. We get more variety and a more powerful rhythm section in Closer. Walking Ghosts might sound familiar because it was a single. It's not bad, the vocals are melodic and the guitars sound tight. So yes, this record has some gems. Just listen to Eye of the Storm that introduces Hell in Heaven with an old school heavy metal guitar riff. A top class song! Also So Sick and The Void (my favorite on this album) are top tunes.

Flashing Nightmare is another step forward for Komah. For lovers of Machine Head!

Deze Belgische band brengt moderne metal(core) die agressiviteit en kracht uitstraalt. Ze zijn afkomstig uit Wallonië en daarom misschien iets minder bekend in Vlaanderen. Nochtans kunnen ze al enkele mooie adelbrieven voorleggen. In 2009 brachten ze hun eerste album Straight Line uit waarmee ze op grote festivalpodia stonden, en ook in het voorprogramma van Pro-Pain mochten. Pro-Pain is trouwens een band waarmee ze een sterke connectie hebben. In 2014 speelden ze op Graspop, en met Flashing Nightmare zijn ze ondertussen aan hun derde plaat toe.

Het album opent sterk met Genesis, maar komt pas goed op gang vanaf het vijfde nummer. We krijgen dan meer variatie en een sterkere ritmesectie zoals op bijv. Closer. Walking Ghosts klinkt misschien wat bekend in de oren omdat het een single was. Het is niet slecht, de zanglijnen zijn melodieus en het gitaarwerk is strak. Dus jawel, er staat best wat lekkers op deze plaat. Luister maar eens naar Eye of the Storm, dat via een old school heavy metal gitaarlijn het sterke Hell in Heaven inleidt. Het nummer bevat trouwens een gelijksoortige gitaarsolo en de vocals zijn echt vet. Een topnummer! Ook So Sick en afsluiter The Void (mijn favoriet op dit album) stijgen boven de middelmaat uit. 

Flashing Nightmare is opnieuw een stap voorwaarts voor Komah. Voor de liefhebbers van Machine Head of zo!
