I’m guessing this is the first instruental surf band to make it into Peek-a-Boo’s pages, so wthout further ado here my review of Church of Reverb (2013) by Messser Chups.
MC hail from the prime surfing destinataion St. Petersburg and play experimental surf mixed with B-Movie samples, trippilly used effects pedals and occasional goolish vocal utterings. They are around since the early 2000’s so seasoned pros at this stage.
For essentially a three piece band its really amazing how much sound is packed into 14 tracks. If Tarantino and Rodriguez ever team up to make a surf sequal of From Dusk Till Dawn this will be the soundtrack.
They’re touring Western Europe this October so check them out.
