Ex_Tension is a French duo comprised of Vincent Gendrot and Pierre-Yves Hohmann and they've been around for about 15 years now. Acknowledging the importance of the early industrial culture, they hover between ambient soundscapes and tribal industrial rhythms. Add a few pearls in the form of minimal piano music and you get a very listenable and divers album.
You can drift away in foreign soundscapes, discovering layers upon layers of ear candy. But there's also a good drive in some songs, the slow build up of tribal beats can make anyone shake. Sometimes it's more of a bleak and broken landscape, like the sound experiments of The Anti Group.
And then there are those pearly dewdrops of absolutely gorgeous piano, something Wim Mertens could not have done better himself.
