GLAARE

Glaare is a triangular band from LA. They describe themselves as « The black hole in the back of your mind », a black hole built on dream-pop, shoegaze and dark-pop’s ruins. This is this specific sound, a kind of dirty dream-pop which reminds of the Trailer Trash Tracys’ first opus (the beautiful Candy Girl). It carries on an etheral feminine vocals’ tradition but the singer Rachael Pierce brings a powerful touch, like Zola Jesus’ vocals. Languor, ever-present bassline, laid-back attitude : it's better to listen to this music while your eyes are closed, as falling night's perfect soundtrack. As their Londonian predecessors, Glaare draws their way at the end of the night, during the break when darkness turns into dawn.

Cristalin pedals' effects are the roots to develop a gloomy atmosphere which crosses First Rain and Ruins but this album is not only depressive. It’s also beauty, melody ; strength into loneliness. The « black hole » doesn’t only refer to darkness but also to space and respite. You’ll find some pop chorus on Suffer, incantations on Surrender/Control and cheesy new-wave on Desiree. Instead of raising sad feelings, this album is soothing, a perfect tightrope walk between vividness and sensibility. To Deaf and Day is gonna guide you from the dusk ‘til the dawn.
