Imagine early Madonna had gone to art school in Canada, gotten into coldwave and started playing scaled back Depeche Mode in Berlin and you’ve pretty much got Sally Dige. It works.
The cover artwork is made by Sally herself and nice enough to put in a frame.
Her label describes the album as “A seductive, pop masterpiece.” There are two synth pop dance floor fillers, “Immaculate Deception” and “Doppelganger.” These are both upbeat, but dark. I went to see her play live and everyone danced. The other tracks are slower synth based coldwave numbers. “So Far Away” for me was the most moving. A classic lament about the relationship you wanted that never worked out.
The LP has 8 tracks and will definitely be on my playlist for the foreseeable. My only observation would be I wanted more and maybe another song on the B side of the LP, but I guess that’s how you sell more records!
