SYLVGHEIST MAËLSTRÖM

In keeping with the esthetics of industrial music, Sylvgheist Maelström values minimalism and repetition in his sounds. Most tracks are atmospheric soundscapes enriched with heavy percussions. The musical background from this Paris based artist are bands like Einstürzende Neubauten and Orphyx, so lots of these influences can be found on this album.

Although he describes himself as a minimal – industrial – ambient artist, on ‘Pripyat’ he deals with transformation and extinction of nature, and adopts a very different musical language with IDM rhythms and dense soundscapes witch make this album a heavyweight unsettling electronica album, topped off with crackling mixes by ‘Basementgrr’ and ‘Yura Yura’

This album serves a dual function, each of the tracks is strong enough to stand alone, and as a whole you find each time more details in sound and melodies. So this project from Julien Sylvgheist is really worth listening to and his throbbing bass sounds will suit industrial lovers.
