THERAPY?

In the nineties, Therapy? had two very succesful albums: Troublegum and Infernal Love. Remember also the cover of Hüsker Dü. After several succesfull gigs at Rock Werchter, they became Gods in Flanders. After a few years they made consciously a few more noisy and inaccessible albums. As a result they disappeared from the radar. But they kept on giving good performances and making albums. I saw them at Rock Torhout and at the AB with their previous album A Brief Crack Of Light, an undervalued album that shows us the first signs of the ressurection: sharp, melodic and hard.

And look, with Disquiet they go further in that direction. Sometimes you think you are back in the Troublegum decade. Here we have an album with tracks that could fit as singles and/or noisy rocksongs. OK, not a song like Diane on this one, but who is waiting for that? Potential singles: Idiot Cousin (lovely bass, singable chorus and nice guitar), Good News is No News (could be on Troublegum), Tides (Infernal Love 2.0), Still Hurts (the new single), Insequrity… Besides, there are also some darker and harder tracks like: Fall Behind, Vulgar Display of Powder, Deathstimate…

With Disquiet they have a new album that can please the older fans and may attracts the younger generations. They are back and in good shape, just like we want them to be: witty, eager, melodic and sharp.

Therapy? had in de jaren 90 twee heel succesvolle albums: Troublegum en Infernal Love, en natuurlijk de cover Diane, die menig tienerhart sneller deed slaan. Na enkele succesvolle passages op Rock Werchter werden ze God in Vlaanderen. Nadien werden hun albums bewust opgevolgd door harder en minder toegankelijk werk waardoor ze uit de radio playlists verdwenen. Maar Therapy? bleef albums maken en optreden met veel inzet. Ondergetekende zag ze nog aan het werk op Rock Torhout en in de AB na het uitbrengen van A Brief Crack Of Light. Het was super. Een ondergewaardeerd album trouwens, waarop de eerste tekenen van de wederopstanding staan: melodieus, snedig en hard.

En zie, met Disquiet gaan ze door in die richting en waan je je weer ten tijde van Troublegum, een album waarop zowel potentiële singles staan als ruige dwarse noiserockers. Potentiële singles (geen single zoals Diane, maar wie zit daar nog op te wachten?) kunnen zijn: Idiot Cousin (heerlijke bas, een meegaande gitaar en dito refrein), Good News Is No News (kon zo op Troublegum gestaan hebben), Tides (infernal love 2.0), Still Hurts (de nieuwe single), Insequrity… Daarnaast staan er ook wat meer donkere, noise gerichte tracks op zoals: Fall Behind, Vulgar Display of Powder, Deathstimate…

Met Disquiet hebben ze een album uit dat zowel de oudere fans als de jongere generaties zal plezieren. Therapy? Is in een bloedvorm en zoals we ze graag hebben: eigenwijs, snedig, gitzwart en melodieus.
