Most of the time DIVE (aka Dirk Ivens) is grossly overlooked when it comes to identifying pioneers of Belgian Electro/EBM and industrial music. Even though this musical centipede with his numerous projects (The Klinik, Absolute Body Control, Sonar,...) has been firmly putting his stamp on the underground electro-scene for over 30 years and has circumnavigated the world already several times, even as far as America, Canada, Brasil and Japan. He never allowed this systematic domestic censorship to penetrate his heart and kept gowing, tough and relentless, as he proves with this totally unexpected new DIVE album 'Underneath'

Unexpected indeed, because, after concentrating mainly on some of his other projects in the past decade, today after 10 long years he is back with his solo (and brutal) electro-industrial/EBM project DIVE! From the first moment of this album it is obvious: DIVE is back with an impressive industrial and loud bang!

'Underneath' as a whole is a dark but varied album and that is probabely mainly caused by the fact that, next to some own compositions, there was a renewed co-operation with Rafeal M Espinosa (Geistform) and Ivan Iusco (Minus Habens Records). Certainly known to DIVE experts because with these two veterans he already composed 'Behind The Sun', 'Concrete Jungle' and 'True Lies' respectively.

By fusing these three very distinct production styles with his own unique and recognizable DIVE voice, sometimes almost a cross between panting and shouting, Dirk Ivens makes all of these songs his own like no-one else can.

The album contains ten dark, ominous, ripping and mostly pounding tracks, of which we can expect at least five or six during this mans energetic and flashing live-sets!

DIVE has been copied often, maybe even plagiarized, but never equaled. And with this release Dirk Ivens proves again that EBM and the industrial electro scene are still alive and kicking!

'Underneath' was released by the renowned Berlin label Out Of Line, both on CD as on 12' vinyl!

Meestal wordt DIVE alias Dirk Ivens schromelijk over het hoofd gezien als met het heeft over de pioniers van de Belgische Electro/EBM en industriële muziek en dat terwijl deze muzikale duizendpoot met zijn talrijke projecten (The Klinik, Absolute Body Control, Sonar, … ) al meer dan 30 jaar zijn stempel drukt op de underground electro-scene en ondertussen ook al enkele malen de gehele wereld rondreisde, tot in Amerika, Canada, Brazilië en zelfs Japan. Zelf dit liet hij deze systematische binnenlandse censuur nooit tot zijn hart komen en blijft hij gaan, hard en meedogenloos, zo bewijst hij nogmaals met dit geheel onverwachte nieuwe DIVE album 'Underneath'.

Inderdaad, want na zich het afgelopen decennia vooral geconcentreerd te hebben op enkele van zijn andere projecten is hij vandaag, na 10 lange jaren, terug met zijn solo en snoeiharde electro-industriële / EBM project DIVE! Al van beluisteren van het eerste nummer is het meteen duidelijk, DIVE is terug met een indrukwekkende industriële en hard knal!

‘Underneath’ is in zijn geheel een zeer donker doch gevarieerd album en dat heeft waarschijnlijk veel te maken met het feit dat er naast de eigen composities opnieuw werd samengewerkt met Rafeal M Espinosa (Geistform) en Ivan Iusco (Minus Habens Records). Dit zijn zeker geen onbekenden voor de DIVE kenners want met deze twee oudgedienden componeerde hij respectievelijk ooit ook al ‘Behind The Sun’ , ‘Concrete Jungle’ en ‘True Lies’.

Door deze drie, toch wel van elkaar verschillende, productie stylen te overgieten met zijn unieke en herkenbare DIVE stemgeluid, dat soms haast een kruising lijkt tussen hijgen en schreeuwen, weet Dirk Ivens als geen ander al deze nummers tot de zijne te maken.

Tien donkere onheilspellende, scheurende en meestal beukende tracks staan er op dit album, waarvan we er binnenkort minstens een vijf-zes-tal mogen verwachten tijdens ’s mans energieke en flitsende live-sets!

DIVE werd misschien al vaak gekopieerd, misschien zelfs geplagieerd, maar nog nooit geëvenaard en met deze release bewijst Dirk Ivens normaar eens duidelijk dat EBM en de industriële electro scene nog springlevend is!

‘Underneath’ werd uitgebracht op het gerenommeerde Berlijnse label Out Of Line en dit op zowel CD als op 12” Vinyl!
