VERTICAL SLUMP

I was laughing when colleague Luke told me that he thought Vertical Slump was making great post-punk, but what can you write about them? You could indeed cite their biography and say that they’re a British four piece band, formed by Simon Marsham (guitars, vocals), Andrew Milk (drums, vocals), Ed Shellard (bass, vocals) and Peter Simpson (synthesizers). Nice information of course, but in fact you want to know some more about this quartet.

Well give it a try, if a band is named after a Swell Map song, then they automatically have some bonus points, even if it was for the fact alone that they know who this forgotten legend is!

The four songs on thios album sound dirty! Something like Gang Of Four, early Fall, the best of the Buzzcocks and probably the best of any other post-punk band, but they sound great! Three minutes of rock that has a DIY-feel, performed by people who don’t give a damn if they play it right or wrong, but do it from the heart. Yeah, what more can you say about a post-punk band, except that it's brilliant?
