It seems that the lockdown and rescheduling of all the concerts became a wonderful creative period for lots of artists. And Colin Edwin is not an exception. For an artist who never stops working, social distance became one of the components that defined the stylistic direction Edwin has been moving to. The series of releases titled “Points Of Origin” were created by Colin with only using bass and occasionally drums. Some parts of five-piece album seem to be like an homage to Jaco Pastorius’ “Portrait of Tracy”. Others drive you through different pedals to open space. Where Edwin - explorer of minimalistic and surrealistic tendencies - found his comfortable place. On the verge of Fripp-ish “God Save The Queen” and typical Eno-stuff, Colin Edwin created his five-piece symphony. But with all this background sound-searching – Edwin is unstable. “Forth Point Of Origin” gets from the ethnicity of drum-beats to a nearly industrial-type-of-atmosphere. Making everything even more interesting. And just like always Colin’s music has been on the verge of many styles and many paths crossing together.
