Since 2015's debut EP Heartworm, Melbourne industrialists Kollaps have continued to refine their brand of harsh and viscerally raw post-industrial noise. Their hard hitting release SIBLING LOVERS, an LP that intensifies the conflict between the dichotomy of confusion and control cemented what claws at the core of Kollaps' sound.

The bands' distinctive sound, jarring textures and crude tones are created using re-appropriated waste materials like scrap metal, raw plastics and steel beams. For the band, this isn't an empty gesture but instead a way to quite literally use the detritus of postmodern society against itself. Kollaps continue to push the traditional boundaries of what it means to be a "band" whilst engaging the audience in an audible blood-letting and physical exorcism that invokes all the senses.

The bands' intensity and provocation as performers has built Kollaps a reputation for both ferocious live shows and confrontational performances. Their tyrannical stage presence and strident energy continues to steadily attract raucous crowds around Australia and Europe. Kollaps have proved themselves alongside some of the best local and intentional underground performers [Brighter Death Now, Trepaneringsritualen, Youth Code, Armour Group, Military Position, Operant].

This October sees Kollaps embark on a savage European tour of 13 countries and will also see them play WROCLAW Festival in Poland alongside heavyweights like Pharmakon, The Soft Moon, Blixa Bargeld & Teho Teardo and Monolith.

Lysander loves Hermia, and Hermia loves Lysander. Helena loves Demetrius; Demetrius used to love Helena but now loves Hermia....Maybe this story sounds familiar to some of you.

William Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, written in 1595/96, is one of his most popular plays with its multilayered examination of love and its vagaries. Director Casey Wilder Mott takes the characters from the partriachal society of Athens to the modern city of Los Angeles. He successfully overcomes the gap between a story from the Elizabethan Age and present-day problems. The movie is an inventive and humourous journey through time taking you from the world of modern electronic devices to the old Shakespearean rhyme schemes and back again. This independent film is not only for poets and bards, it definitely arouses interest among the young audience as well and introduces them to the mysterious world of the theatre in quite a fun way.

The movie celebrated its theatrical release last July at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles followed by director and cast Q&As.

German post-punk shoegaze outfit HOLYGRAM has announced their long-awaited debut LP 'Modern Cults'. Comprised of eleven tracks, this album will be released on CD and double vinyl, as well as digitally via Cleopatra Records, on 19th October.
This is the first major release for the Cologne-based outfit since their 2016 self-titled EP. Here, the collective blend new wave and Krautrock with post-punk and shoegaze to achieve headstrong multi-layered bliss. This is a thoroughly contemporary homage to the sound of the '80s with a resolute look to the future - the result is driving, dark and catchy.
Produced by Maurizio Baggio, who also produced The Soft Moon's 'Deeper' and 'Criminal' albums, this long-player was recorded at Cologne's Amen Studios.
HOLYGRAM is Patrick Blümel (vocals), Sebastian Heer (drums), Marius Lansing (guitars), Pilo Lenger (synthesizers) and Bennett Reimann (bass). Formed in 2015, the band's approach to making music references the past, while remaining future-oriented. Hard-to-combine elements cleverly come together to become the soundtrack of a city that appears threatening in the twilight.
The new album intensifies HOLYGRAM's contemplation of themes such as big cities, alienation and anonymity, hope and memories, love and identity. These reflections interact closely with the band's unmistakable signature sound. Atmosphere oscillates between the brutal sounds of the big city and the fragility of the people that lose themselves in it – intelligently observed scenarios of a world falling apart in which individuals have long ceased to play a leading role.
The lead track 'Signals' is cloaked in a new-wave guise that belies an emotionally torn lyric, elevating the deeply melancholy chorus ("Sometimes when I close my eyes I see you walk away / And every time the sun comes up the feeling is the same") to a pop-like anthem, illustrating that in this world people are only cogs in a much bigger, increasingly autonomous machine.
The band recently accompanied British synthpop legends OMD on their 2017 European tour and have played numerous festivals, including Mailfeld Derby, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and New Waves Day. Wrapping themselves in dense wafts of mist and cool lighting on stage, they've made quite a name for themselves on the live circuit.
HOLYGRAM will be touring Europe and US/Canada this Autumn with VNV Nation, as well as DE/VISION for the North American tour. They will hold two release shows - the first, in Cologne on 9th Nov, marks the end of their European tour, while the Los Angeles release show on 14th Nov (at The Viper Room) kicks off their North American tour.

All sinners will have the opportunity to gather again on Saturday 1st December for the great mass of new wave and punk. After one year of absence, SINNER'S DAY is back!

2018 is the year that celebrates forty years of new wave, which makes one more reason to celebrate this 5th edition of Sinner’s Day. For the first time, this edition will take place in the Limburghal in Genk. With a bit of luck the DNA of predecessors such as U2, THE CURE, BEASTIE BOYS or SISTERS OF MERCY will still float around.

New wave and punk have reached a respectable lifetime and more and more young and passionate musicians are still inspired by these genres. That’s why Sinner’s Day 2018 not only focuses on timeless classics like JOHN CALE, GBH, RED ZEBRA, DE BRASSERS or popular bands such as FISCHER Z and GANG OF FOUR but also on the new generation with COCAINE PISS, WHISPERING SONS and VIVE LA FÊTE.

Proto-punk Wayne Kramer (MC5) will perform as absolute headliner on the Sinner’s Day stage. Fifty years after the legendary 'Kick out the Jams', Wayne Kramer will play the album in its entirety, supported by his supergroup MC50. His new band just consists of members from SOUNDGARDEN & FUGAZI.

One more new thing: one of the two stages will be exclusively dedicated to Belgian acts. The one who knows his or her patriotic musical history also knows that our country, especially Limburg, played (and still plays!) a key role in the new wave/nouvelle vague scene. Think of bands like DE BRASSERS (Hamont), MARCEL VANTHILT (Leopoldsburg), O VEUX (Hasselt) but also WHISPERING SONS(Houthalen) or FUNERAL DRESS, COCAÏNE PISS and VIVE LA FÊTE.

Marcel Vanthilt will not only perform on stage but will also do the presentations during the festival. In the coming days and weeks, he will also present to us introduction videos of bands, for instance Whispering Sons, MC50 & Claw Boys Claw.

In short, a great line-up for the lovers of the genre!
