Italy always appeals to someone. For some it is a football paradise, others love the Italian sports cars and of course there is also the beautiful Italian underground scene. A good example is the neo-classical darkwave genre with bands like Camerata Mediolanense and Ataraxia. Less known, but not less beautiful, is the duo Les Jumeaux Discordants.

The duo consists of two veterans Roberto Del Vecchio and Aimaproject (AIMA). A CD (Sang Pour Sang) was released five years ago, and now there is a new one with texts that are based on the work of the Greek philosopher Empedocles, the French poets Gérard de Nerval and Baudelaire, and the contemporary Italian poet Angelo Tonelli.

Musically Roberto Del Vecchio and Aimaproject compare their music with Kirlian Camera during its Schmerz-period and The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud.

The thirteen songs are indeed beautiful darkwave with a touch of mysticism, but it’s not too experimental. Therefore you can compare the music with, say, Dead Can Dance.

Les Chimères appears on the Athanor-label that earlier released work by Le Joyaux De La Princesse, Ain Soph and Blood Axis. If you are interested in this release, it is better not to wait because of this CD only 300 copies are issued.

Italië heeft altijd wel voor iemand een speciale aantrekkingskracht. Voor de ene is het een voetbalparadijs, anderen zijn verliefd op de sportauto’s en natuurlijk is er ook de Italiaanse undergroundscène die heel wat schoon volk bevat. Een mooi voorbeeld is het neoklassieke darkwavegenre met bands als Camerata Mediolanense en Ataraxia. Iets minder bekend (maar daarom niet minder mooi) is het duo Les Jumeaux Discordants.

Het duo bestaat uit twee veteranen: Roberto Del Vecchio en Aimaproject (AimA). Een eerste plaat (Sang Pour Sang) werd vijf jaar geleden opgenomen, en nu is er de nieuwe met daarop teksten die gebaseerd zijn op het werk van de Griekse filosoof Empedocles, de Franse dichters Gérard de Nerval en Charles Baudelaire, alsook de hedendaagse Italiaanse poëet Angelo Tonelli.

Muzikaal vergelijken Roberto Del Vecchio en Aimaproject hun project met de muziek die Kirlian Camera componeerde in z'n Schmerz-dagen en The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud.

De dertien prachtige nummers zijn inderdaad darkwave van het allerhoogste kaliber met een vleugje mystiek, zonder dat het ooit te experimenteel wordt. Daarom kan je de muziek evengoed met pakweg Dead Can Dance vergelijken.

Les Chimères verschijnt op het Athanor-label dat eerder al werk van Le Joyaux De La Princesse, Ain Soph en Blood Axis uitbracht. Indien je interesse hebt in deze release is het beter om niet te lang te wachten, want deze cd is op 300 exemplaren geperst.
