After some years of silence, Displacer is back among the living.
In case you don’t know, Displacer is the alter ego of the Canadian artist Michael Morton. This composer and visual artist from Toronto can definitely be proud of what he achieved so far. On his CV he can put collaborations with artists like Legendary Pink Dots, Fixmer/McCarthy or Haujobb.
His previous album “The witching hour” was kind of special, as he was using all kind of samples from old horror movies, but on his latest offering, Displacer goes back to the basics of electronic music.
Apart from the new wave popsong that “Falling” is, this whole album is an instrumental one.
Everyone will see something different in here, but whatever it is, we think “Night Gallery” can be best described as Tangerine Dream for a new century.
It’s not only the sleeve that will remind you of some good old spacey Krautrock, as even this art of modern dance (whatever that might be!) is totally absorbed by its cosmic beauty.
Well, if new dance means that you can dream away on your sofa, then we’re definitely in for it!
To be checked out, especially for cosmicheads who dig a love for some deep dark bassline added with tons of atmosphere!
