Veil Of Light is a cold wave/post-punk one-man project of a certain M. of Zurich. Since three years he composes cold, albeit sensitive, atmospheric music. He made several EP’s and one album. This year a new album is planned and the EP, that consists of three songs, is a foretaste.

Opener Judged By God has a lot of keyboards that give the song all kinds of beautiful layers. The hard, dark and almost spoken voice makes it a real cold wave track. The music reminds us of The Cure or Fad Gadget. On Guns And Knives Veil of Light sounds darker and more experimental. Talisman is slightly lighter. It’s very melodic, without sounding too poppy.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new album of Veil Of Light, which will be released later this year. A recommendation for fans of electro and cold wave enthusiasts! The EP is available on vinyl via Manic Depression Records or digitally via Bandcamp.

Veil Of Light is een coldwave/postpunk-éénmansproject van een zekere M. uit Zürich. Sedert een drietal jaren componeert hij koude, weliswaar gevoelige, sfeerrijke muziekstukjes. Hij bracht al verschillende ep’s en één album uit. Dit jaar is er een nieuw album gepland en deze ep, die drie songs bevat, is de voorloper.

Opener Judged By God heeft heel wat keyboards waardoor de song vele mooie lagen krijgt. De harde, donkere en bijna gesproken stem maakt er een echte coldwavetrack van. De muziek doet onwillekeurig denken aan The Cure of Fad Gadget. Op Guns and Knives klinkt Veil of Light donkerder en experimenteler. Talisman is iets lichter. Heel melodieus, zonder dat het echt poppy klinkt.

Ik kijk alvast al uit naar het nieuwe album van Veil Of Light dat dit jaar uitkomt. Voor elektro- en coldwaveliefhebbers een sterke aanrader. Verkrijgbaar op vinyl via Manic Depression Records of digitaal via Bandcamp.
