B52 in Eernegem was the place to be for a night of industrial metal. The Belgian band Psycho Generation started the concert. Their first album The Rise Of Jonathan Brofist is a mix of goth rock, goth metal with an industrial touch. The latter is mainly due to the synth sounds that regularly accompanies the guitar violence. The band played with the right spirit, but the show was too loud, and so the first three songs sounded pretty dull and mediocre. Afterwards that the sound was better, we finally heard the vocals and the musical variation. With some special elements, frontman Psycho stole the show. The band certainly has potential as a result of the variation in the songs, but the result was poor, in spite of the enthusiasm. Too bad, because this could have been much more!

The audience found its way to the small club to see Ost + Front on stage. Of course they already played on bigger stages, but for those who thought that they just came to do their own thing... none of it. The typical masks and liters of blood were present. The band has released three albums, and all of them were explored.

After an epic intro, it was time for pure hell. Sternenkinder, Tschernobyl, Heimat Erde, Feuerwasser... subjects to keep you awake! The public appreciated it. The band played the very hard Anders as the fifth song and then hell broke loose and we really saw a great concert. Although Ost + Front played hard and loud, it was different. Fleisch quickly followed. Quite remarkablz, as the band didn’t give the audience time to breathe. The songs of the album Olympia were better known to the public than those of the last album Ultra, but the mix was beautiful. The public sang long with crowd pleasers like Sonne, Mond & Sterne and Mensch, while the keyboard player was kicking butt. An excellent show, even if the B52 is a small venue. The rhythms sounded tight, the guitars were played at a furious pace, and the bass was deafening.

After 21 tracks, the band returned on stage wit hits anthem Ost + Front. The band had a lot of fun. This is absolutely a live band because the songs sound more solid when performed live. The band members left the stage one by one after a very friendly greeting to the public. They might be called the " little brother " of Rammstein, but this is a great and strong musical bond. The sound could be better, yes..., and of course we wanted more...

B52 in Eernegem was the place to be voor een avondje industrial metal. Twee bands op het podium, gewapend met een fris pintje en een opgewarmde nek voor een partijtje headbangen...

Het Belgische/West-Vlaamse Psycho Generation mocht de spits afbijten. Het eerste album The Rise Of Jonathan Brofist is een mix van gothrock, gothmetal en her en der en vleugje industrial. Dit laatste vooral door de synthklanken die heel regelmatig het gitaargeweld vergezellen. De band speelde begeesterd, maar de show was te luid waardoor de drie eerste songs vrij gelijk en middelmatig klonken. Daarna werd de klank beter, hoorden we eindelijk de vocalen en was er sprake van muzikale variatie. Frontman Psycho J zorgde met wat showelementen voor een extraatje. De band heeft potentieel, er is afwisseling in de songs, maar het kwam er niet uit, ondanks de begeestering. Jammer, want er zat méér in.

Het publiek in de kleine club vond voor Ost+Front de weg naar het podium. De heren en psycho-lady op toetsen stonden al op grotere podia, maar wie dacht dat ze maar gewoon 'hun ding' kwamen doen... niets daarvan. De typerende maskers en liters bloed waren van de partij. De band heeft al drie full albums achter z'n naam staan en putte daar vrolijk uit.

Na een epische intro brak de hel los. Sternenkinder, Tschernobyl, Heimat Erde, Feuerwasser... een mens zou van minder wakker liggen. Het publiek kon het appreciëren. Als vijfde song speelde de band het snoeiharde Anders en toen barstte de hel pas echt los en hoorden we een mooi concert. Hoewel ook Ost+Front hard en luid speelde, was het toch van een ander alooi. Fleisch volgde snel. Heel opvallend: de band laat het publiek niet de tijd om op adem te komen. Er zat vaart in de show. Je werd bij de keel gegrepen. De songs van het album Olympia waren duidelijk beter bekend bij het publiek dan die van het laatste album Ultra, maar de mix was mooi.

De meezingers Sonne, Mond & Sterne, Mensch, kregen vocale versterking van het publiek, terwijl de toetseniste lekker tekeerging. Veel show dus, ondanks het kleine en fijne podium in de B52. De ritmes klonken strak, de gitaren speelden tegen een hels tempo, de bas dreunde er doorheen...

Op het einde van de set met 21 nummers, kregen we het band-anthem Ost+Front dat de boel nog eens in lichterlaaie zette. De band had er veel plezier in. Het was geen tussendoortje. We zagen een volwaardige show en hoorden strakke metalsongs. Dit is een live-band, want de songs klinken steviger als ze live worden gebracht. De bandleden verlieten één voor één het podium na een heel vriendelijk en beleefd groet aan het publiek.

Ze worden dan misschien het 'kleine broertje' van Rammstein genoemd, maar dit is een geweldige en muzikaal sterke band. De klank kon beter en ja... we want more...
