SOLOLUST

Remember those black things that had a hole in the middle and that had to be played on 45 rpm? Yeah, it's called a single and somewhere those tiny things contain the essence of music as you took it out of the sleeve expecting to hear some pop song that would strike you.

And look, it's like you're sent back in time as the Dutch band Sololust give us this godlike experience. You see, "Total loss" is like the equivalent of perfect synthpop: a desperate voice accompanied by some glockenspiel-keyboard that could have come from the very first OMD-album.

The B-side is like an analogue synthride that sounds as much Newclear Waves as Kraftwerk.

Indeed, it would have been a perfect single on Mannequin but this one is on Petit Enfant, the sub label from the Dutch based Enfant Terrible label and after the appearance from Sololust on the "Kamp Holland" compilation, we know it: Sololust rule and we're dying to hear more. But first back to the flipside of this gorgeous thing!
