Designed to play alongside “The King Is Dead” on different speakers with Keef Baker’s (other) project NIMON or as a stand alone album. “Long Live The King” got the same emotional elements, but sounds more threatening and makes more use of echoing drones, synth pads and discrete percussion. It should create a one-of-a-kind experience when you play both records at the same time, but unfortunately couldn’t play them simultaneously at home. As stand alone album “Long Live The King” has a lot to offer as well. As said, the album sounds darker than “The King Is Dead” and has more power. It seems that where “The King Is Dead” is inspired by a calm sea “Long Live The King” is inspired by more rough landscapes just along the sea. “Long Live The King” is a very interesting soundscape album with sometimes strange sounds and influences. The result is as compelling as the NIMON effort, but this album has a more threatening atmosphere.
