Iceland makes the ears opening wide. It's like with detective and drama TV series in recent years, because when it comes to spherical and intense music the acts from Scandinavia often do it better.
Glerakur brings an extremely sophisticated blend of drones, post-rock, ambient and doom.
In only (and unfortunately) three songs the band proves to belong to the absolute top. The slow, hypnotic building of first track Can't You Wait, combined with those in the background produced, slightly trippy vocals, delivers a first indication on what this band is capable of. The subsequent Polycide is more like a long intro to the magnus opus of this record; the impressive Willocide. At first it seems like the sound leans on Polycide, but after 6 minutes it unfolds in a absolute killer drone rocker. It's impossible to keep your head still at the groove, drum and guitar work of the last four minutes of that song. Impressive!
When the band can be inspired to make more impressive songs like this and Can't You Wait , then Glerakur is ready for a great future.

Bij het horen van IJsland gaan de oren natuurlijk wijd open. Het is net als met detective en drama TV series de laatste jaren, want als het gaat om sferische en intense muziek dan hebben de acts uit Scandinavië vaak een streepje voor. Glerakur brengt een uiterst uitgekiende mix van drones, post rock, ambient en donkere metal.
In slechts (en helaas maar) drie nummers laat de band horen de mogelijkheid in zich te hebben om tot de absolute top te gaan behoren. De langzame, hypnotische opbouw van Can't You Wait, gecombineerd met die in de achtergrond geproduceerde, ietwat zweverige zang, levert al een eerste indicatie op tot waar deze band toe in staat is. Het daaropvolgende Polycide is meer een lang intro naar de magnus opus van deze plaat; het imposante Willocide. Die eerst nog leunt op het geluid van Polycide, maar zich na 6 minuten ontvouwt tot een drone rocker pur sang. Hou maar eens het hoofd stil op de groove, het drum en gitaarwerk van de laatste vier minuten van dat nummer. Indrukwekkend! Als de band zich vaker tot die hoogte kan laten inspireren dan is Glerakur klaar voor een grootse toekomst.
