It's no coincidence that Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb, Palais Schaumburg) made this compilation of Conrad Schnitzler material (Tangerine Dream, Kluster). 36 Years ago when he was an art student, he attended a guest lecture by this German and most important experimental electronic musician. That was crucial for Fehlmann in his decision to become a musician. Fehlmann collected and arranged sixteen pieces of the early 80s by the man who broaded his horizon. He did a fine job and the compilation concentrates on the CON-series: ‘Con3’, ‘Conrad & Sons’, ‘Contempora’ and ‘Congratulacion’. The sound is early 80s and the songs are rather abstract, but they show the influence on the electronic music. A nice and rather accessible time document.

Het is geen toeval dat Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb, Palais Scaumburg) deze compilatie 36 jaar geleden heeft gemaakt. Toen hij kunststudent was, woonde hij een gastlezing bij van Conrad Schnitzler (Tangerine Dream, Kluster), toen één van de belangrijkste experimentele elektronische muzikanten. Een belangrijk moment voor Fehlmann, dat hem achteraf liet besluiten om ook muzikant te worden. Fehlmann stelde een verzameling van zestien nummers samen met hoofdzakelijk werk uit de CON- serie: ‘CON3’, ‘Conrad & Sons’, ‘Contempora’ en ‘Congratulacion’. Het is dus geen overzicht van het volledig oeuvre van Conrad, maar het bevat wel de geluiden en abstracte songs uit de vroege jaren 80 die de latere elektronische muziek én Fehlmann op ‘Palais Schaumburg’ hebben beïnvloed. Een leuk en vrij toegankelijk tijdsdocument.
